It's what I've heard from someone I trust. I'd PM'd a few trusted regular posters on here when initially heard about the interest in Moyes before the press started printing the link to him. & it was about the same time as Cilla had first mentioned him on here to so I'm guessing he may have heard whisperings at that time too. What I'm not sure of is if the financial issues are with regards to his own wages etc or demands for transfer spends etc. Possibly be both. Wow a new ITK just like DV. You are the new go to man! Lol.. Nah I know very little but just abit of non specific stuff has drip fed my way lately..! Talking of DV, he's been very quiet lately.

If we are so keen now, why didn’t we go and get him in the summer? If we did and he refused, what has changed? If anything it’s a worse proposition. You would (correctly) imagine that his stock has fallen even lower than ours.
He was a port in the storm for WHU, not some messiah as he seemed to think, single-handedly reinventing the beautiful game in East London.I am being a pragmatist in seeing Moyes as our best bet right now. The Coates will never appoint a risky, sexy, total football proponent from overseas with no experience in the English game. Even the Spaniard they looked at was more English than many English managers in his approach to the game! Of the British candidates mooted, he is the one I prefer. Heaven forbid we get MON/Red Roy, or even Fat Sam, or the unhinged Pearson or the loony Mad Mick.

The fiancial issues may be linked to that press report where a journo said they were surprised a change hadnt already happened this week.. Maybe Moyes is their target & they can't agree a deal..

As an aside to all the speculation, I’ve never felt as comfortable at a Stoke game as I did during that playoff final. Brentford may as well have not turned up. After the madness at Ninian, we were invincible! As a kid I would be absolutely shitting it before a league game, but sat in the Millenium Stadium i’d never been so relaxed about a football match. I felt more comfortable there than I did at half time against Bolton, but I was much older then, I had learned a lot about fat ladies singing!

(Of them I would plump for Big Sam but even then, that is more because of my affection of how he handled Cheato (sic) Florres of Swansea while he was at WHU, so that is really scrapping the barrel as he hardly sparkled at Everton since of course).
I'd have loved QSF obvs. (& would also love to know why it really fell through - ano to add to what really happened to the David James transfer in the 'truth will out' memoirs of PC but hey, that'll have to wait).
That said, there is ano foreign gentleman, lately of the Fulham parish, that has a little something about him I would suggest.
Why on earth is he not ahead of that lot of Britosaurus'?
The time for PC's jingoism is surely up.

The money you've spent and benefits you've had bestowed on you by the taxpayer and you're moaning about injuries? Forgive me if I lack much sympathy! I've seen you missing one or two key players and you're absolute crap. So 15 points in December (without Lanzini, Arnatovic, Yarmolenko, Hernandez, Balbuena, Reid, Wilshire, Fredricks, etc for most of it) , yet our manager and player are up for the monthly Premier League awards is crap? christ I thought this was Stoke City not Manchester City We're shit and at least we know we're shit. You got Allardyce and Moyes sacked because of some delusion about the 'West Ham way' or some such bollocks......and you're still shit.

Stoke fans in delusions of grandeur shocker. We’re a medium sized Championship club, ffs. Clubs of the ilk of Bournemouth, Watford, and Brighton are a bigger pull, ffs, not to mention we’re probably only in the Top 6 of attractive clubs to take on, in the division we find ourselves in today.
Allardyce wouldn’t come here, and we couldn’t afford him.
Jokanovic is ‘too foreign’ for our owners tastes.
I’d be surprised if Moyes came here, but SAF thought enough of him to recommend him for the ManU job, iirc.

Probably holding on for a Premier League job, no one has blinked aside from Fulham who evidently had Ranieri lined up before Jokanovic's sacking. It's now January and still no club is blinking. Can see Stoke as his project to rebuild on. If he can get us promoted and build a steady base if we get back up then it's a job well done I say. Looking at the possible Prem sackings, we've got to be in with a shot this time. www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1059655/David-Moyes-exclusive-interview-West-Ham-Manchester-UnitedMoyes "mad keen" on return to management
I was surprised he didn't bite in the summer as he's never going to be a sexy pick to sell to anyone but the unfashionable fanbases. Palace (not going to get rid of Roy any time soon. If they did, would definitely not be on the list) Newcastle (no chance of him getting it) Burnley (Dyche going nowhere. If there was a change, you could see it, but no hint of anything at all imminent there and they'd probably keep him if they went down) Cardiff (Warnock going nowhere - but possibly if there was a change) Soton (no chance) Fulham (no chance) Hudders (Wagner going nowhere, would probably even keep him if relegated. If they changed, his appointment showed they're quite imaginative) Surely we're about as good as it'll get for him any time soon? My worry would be the Leicester job. I don’t think Puel is safe

The last time I saw Moyes speak he was still in charge of Sunderland. I've never heard such a downbeat interview, he sounded like he was about to slit his own throat.
He just doesn't seem to me to have the character to get the players enthused, motivated, confident and firing. He started with a good situation at united and made them worse, he started with a poor situation at sunderland and made them worse. I just don't see him as a panacea for the problems.
If he comes then I'll get behind him, because not doing so defies logic. I'm getting resigned to a managerial change because the players and supporters are not happy with Rowett and without them he has no chance. But personally I think he has been given a raw deal. There's people on this thread suggesting Moyes must be given 12 months. Isn't that hypocritical when many of them were not prepared to give Rowett 12 weeks ?

Puel must be reasonably well set with recent wins over Man City, Chelsea and Everton though - and they are 7th!
Got to think their owners would go for someone sexier if they did bring out the axe?

Sexy? Three of their last 4 appointments were Pearson, Shakespeare and Puel; they don't seem terribly bothered about chasing the exotic names. I don't think they'll be getting rid of Puel any time soon - certainly not mid-season anyway - but the locals are generally far from enamoured with him regardless of their current league position.

If we are so keen now, why didn’t we go and get him in the summer? If we did and he refused, what has changed? If anything it’s a worse proposition. Do managers think like that? In the summer he was probably waiting for a Premier League job that will probably never come now. Put yourself in his shoes. He did a great job at West Ham and you wouldn't rush to drop out of the Premier League would you? If the choice is now drop down or stay at home, you'd probably now play the odds and drop. As for the job, he'd probably look at a club desperate to get promotion, is currently at it's possible lowest ebb right now and that the only way is up, with a decent backing. If I was Moyes, I'd rip Coates's arms right out of it's sockets and dance a jig down the M6. They make mistakes and have made critical errors over the last few years but they are still fabulous owners to work for. They back their managers to the hilt. And you could also argue that there is less pressure on him now too. If he'd taken the job in the summer, then any finish in his first season outside of the top six would be seen as a failure. Now he's got a least 18 months.

Yes he was incredibly negative at Sunderland.Said all the wrong things. First interview at West Ham he bigged himself, the club and the players up and continued to be very positive. Managers who learn from their mistakes are rare.

not forgetting the great job he did with Preston in the Champ previously Couldn't replicate it at Sunderland or West Ham. How long did he have at both? West ham was ok for him, and listening to Stuart Pearce who worked alongside him, he was nothing but praising of the way he dealt with a difficult job. Sunderland were a basket case

Turned Arnoutivic around from absolute flop to being the clubs star player. Got a tune out of other underperforming players too (exactly what we need right now)

Because they're starting from completely different positions. When Rowett started the season we were in an equal position to everybody else, whilst at the same time being clear favourites for promotion. Now we're in 14th position and are 20/1 outsiders. You can surely see that there's a bit of a difference?
