3* little bit unlucky at times but poor result and a very clearly terrified performance.

8 out of 10 for the 1st half: Controlled the game, missed a penalty and Allen missing an open goal summing it up at the moment. If an engineer was doing a report on our defence it would come back as catastrophic - 1 ball defend in the entire 1st half and failed. Apart from that we were energetic won every 50/50 ball and passed reasonably well Hard to give a mark for the 2nd half performance, totally drained of confidence and crowd on their back from the whistle, had to try and keep it a 1-0 where we still had a chance of something happening but enter the defence again. Complete rebuild required of the defence in the Jan/Summer window. This year was all about re-build and not doing a Sunderland - 16pts still to get for safety. 5 for the team -5 for the premier league supporters * Our crowd was a disgrace yesterday, they don’t deserve to be called fans.

10. Several chances to score. Players missed. If the Club wants the high earners out name a better squad selection. Unreal!!!!!!!

Happy New Year fellow Stokies! xx So that was good news #1. Good news #2, lovely to see Brizzles again, one of the best lot of fans I know. There is no good news #3. Peter, John, whichever of you fires the bullets at this moment, lock and load please. Gary's had his chance, he's made no impression to speak of despite, I truly believe, trying all he knows. Christmas into NY was the testing time, Rowett failed, please don't weaken and give him till the end of the season. Ditto Scholes and, especially, Cartwright the human kiss of death. Maybe we had to burn out a second short-term appointment to get rid of the mess Sparky left behind: whatever the reasoning, a bold new manager coming in NOW, like this week, still has a good chance of getting us into the play-offs given how the points totals are running in this league. I hope and trust (tho don't necessarily believe) lessons were learnt last time and we already have our rolling shortlist... For today, 2* from me please add * if you were there Not so sure it’s that easy to sack Scholes Sal as he is Director/CEO/Shareholder in the club. Rules are somewhat different than for us peasants.

2 I guess at least we started a bit more on the front foot than usual and the penalty if scored might have made for a different game. I cant recall ever giving such consistently low marks for Lambert and Hughes, posters on here are finally realising it's not the players who are hopeless, they are being shackled by the managers formation and tactics. The players actually look more pissed off than the fans...it will be a welcome relief for everyone if and when he goes. It really isn't going to get any better.

7!!!!
The team were obviously told to quicken things up and get the ball to the front faste and they looked better for it.. You can’t blame Rowett for individual mistakes, missing a penalty, poor marking for the first, ridiculous mistakes for the second, none of that his fault. But having gone to home and away all season and knowing that things will not change a great deal I actually believe he should go now.

Thing is this far into a season/managership yes I do blame the manager for poor marking and excess unforced errors, to me that shouts out dodgy work (or simply lack of it) on the training ground.

But having gone to home and away all season and knowing that things will not change a great deal I actually believe he should go now. We did move the ball a bit quicker for the first 20 minutes but even then only as far as the edge of the 18 yard box at which point everything slowed down as usual with the result we created virtually nothing as usual. I am certainly not advocating playing fast route one football but we need to actually generate some inventive and creative football to penetrate opposition defences as at the moment even when we create some space we are so slow they have time to re-set their formation. Martina needs to be dropped and if Bauer is damaged goods we have to persist with Edwards or sign a right back. Eric needs to be back in the team, if he wasn't fit yesterday what was he doing on the bench and if he was why didn't he play and why did McLean end up playing left back? We need to sign a centre back with some pace If Woods is needed to shield the centre backs and until we get some pace there I can see the logic of the approach but he has to be 10 yards further forward Ince has to switch to the left as he is too one footed to operate on the right, at present he is either receiving the ball facing our own goal and doing a U-turn to try to get away from the full back or as yesterday being shepherded inside and running into pre-arranged congestion. On the left he could use his natural body shape to get the ball in without having to get past his man. McLean, Clucas or even Diouf would be a better option on the right until we can get someone else in. We either have to go with two up top, which I think would better suit any combination of Afobe, Saido and Crouch or play a truly creative player just behind Afobe or Saido as the single striker one who could see and deliver defence splitting passing. At present we only have Bojan or Adam who fits that bill. We then need to adopt a game plan that starts off and remains on the front foot and creates some momentum and pressure. I do not think squad needs a major overhaul, yes we could do with a two or three new faces but the main changes required involve formation, game plan and motivation of the players. Is Rowett capable of delivering this?? I for one don't think so.
