How’d did you enjoy Hyde Park to Wembley? I prefer a Hyde Park gig for a more old school experience, but the sound is a little on the quiet side. I’ve no doubt Dylan and Neil Young were terrific.

Sound was dodgy for Neil Young (kept drifting away in the wind) and was nowhere near loud enough, which is strange because we've seen him in Hyde Park before and that time it was so loud that the ground was rumbling beneath your feet. Sound was perfect for both Laura Marling and Dylan either side of Young, so I guess it's difficult not to point the finger of blame at Neil's sound man. Young was on form though, even though he was forced to play quite a (relatively) short set. Dylan's set had its moments but at other times not so good. A lot of time was spent attempting to work out what (classic) song he was actually playing (Like A Rolling Stone was just bizarre) but Girl From The North Country, with just Dylan solo on the piano as the sun set in the West was magical. Always prefer Hyde Park to Wembley.

Always prefer Hyde Park to Wembley. I believe BST and other gigs were ordered by the local authority to reduce the noise levels after complaints. I saw The Who in 1996 at Hyde Park and was typically very loud, roll on to 2015 and some of The Who’s sound drifted away with the wind as you said.

It's an odd one, we saw Tom Petty there in 2017 and it was so loud, that you could feel it in the pit of your stomach and we actually moved further back. Yesterday, Dylan was noticeably louder than Neil Young but overall still not loud enough. We were standing literally right next to the mixing desk and during the quieter moments, the audience's chatter was quite audible.

Foals are definitely on my bucket list. One of my favourite live bands, never seen them do anything but a blistering show.

How full was it Paul? Had various emails Thursday Friday off ticket agents seemingly with a glut of unsold tix. 80%? Pitch and first tier was packed, upper tier about two thirds full. It was bloody expensive though ... our tickets were £220 each! I've stopped watching the who for this reason must have seen them 20 times going back 50 years . Last time was the quadrophenia tour in 2013 I think . Just a rip of nowadays

Foals are definitely on my bucket list. They've played The Sugarmill twice in recent memory - once when nobody really gave a fuck about them around 2008/9 and latterly as a festival warm-up when they were far too massive to be playing a venue of that size (it was 2013 I seem to recall). Go see a local show folks - you never know if who you're watching will end up being huge!

Went to see Cowboy Junkies last night in Bristol. Never had the chance before even though I've liked them for 30 years. They were excellent and much darker and heavier than one might expect.
K D Lang tonight as she celebrates the 25th anniversary of her best album, Ingenue

KD was fantastic. Her voice still majestic and her band amazing. The fourth time I've seen her since '96 and likely to be the last I guess as time moves on...
Seeing a pedal steel virtuoso called Roosevelt Collier at a free gig this Saturday.
Check this out

Madness last night, up in Scarborough were excellent. Better than I expected, the support act called The Pidgeon Detectives, a band from Leeds were also good. A word on the venue, Peasholm Park, an open air jobbie standing room and seating was really unusual and excellently managed, apart from the rain!😁

Went to see the excellent Jenny Lewis last night. Four gigs in a week. Decided not to see The Long Ryders on Sunday as I was knackered after a day's golfing!! Regretting it now.

Just back from a very wet Perry Park in Brum, to see the Inner City Live event with Doves, Johnny Marr, the Coral and the Twang. The Twang were actually bloody good, a nice surprise albeit not really my cuppa, had 2 girl backing singers one of whom sang solo and was brilliant, not bad at all. The Coral were er shite, not my thing at all - they can clearly play a bit but that was an hour of my life I’ll not get back. Johnny Marr was (predictably) brilliant, great band, great sound , nice mix of solo and Smiths (This Charming Man/ Bigmouth/How Soon/ Light that Never Goes Out) and a random Deoeche Mode cover too. Plus a splendid shirt, so sartorial honours to JM! Doves were great, and sound was top notch albeit rain got heavier and I think they truncated set due to it. That my be why set seemed a little disjointed, didn’t seem to flow that well, but the good bits were many and a very engaging band and show. Delighted to get home as soaked to the bloody skin.

Prophets of Rage at the Manchester Academy. Fighting the power and Eurocentricity with 1000 other white middle class blokes who can afford £50 for a rock gig ✊
Next up is Kris Drever at St Margaret's Church in Biddulph. They've have some surprisingly big names in folk and blues on over they years.

Excellent. Seen them three times now and had Wayne roll over my head in his big plastic ball! Probably that's it for me now but such a good live experience. Saw San Francisco prog band Once and Future Band last night for £8 in a little Bristol venue. Very good.
