I’m liking the pessimism of our own support and the rampant arrogance (not unusual) of theirs with regard this game - Sod’s law says we might get something out of it! No rampant arrogance here mate, but I agree people are writing Stoke off far too easily, do they never learn! UTV If I was a betting man would keep my money in my pocket, almost no scoreline would surprise me tomorrow simply because Villa can score and concede lots of goals against anyone. Stoke generally score and concede in most games. So only score that would truly surprise would be 0.0.

Great game for us to measure our recent progress , If we are to go up Villa will be a serious competitor , so to take anything from this game will be a good result.
I could see us getting something if we play at our best .
To me our bigger problem currently lies in getting Rowett to be a bit more positive , especially in home games , we need to get a much better feeling at these games as most of the top sides will still have to come to us between now and the end of the season

................Butland................ Martina...Shawcross..Williams...Pieters .................Woods................. ......Allen................Clucas...... Diouf...........Berahino...........Ince
Subs: Federici, Indi, Edwards, Adam, McClean, Afobe, Crouch.
Would love to see Bauer back, but it won't happen it seems. Can't find a place for Bojan with this formation.

Can see a right tonking as a possibility. They will score, we can’t defend and we are set up negatively with a slow moving game. 4-1 to Villa but hope to be proved wrong.

Jack Grealish (shin), Henri Lansbury (hamstring), Neil Taylor (hamstring), Birkir Bjarnason (groin), James Bree, Mile Jedinak are all out, and winger Albert Adomah (ankle) is a doubt. With that injury news think we will win

If Villa put their ladies team out,Rowett would still play negative and try to get a draw.

Its Villa FFS not some crack Premiership team. Get a grip some of you and believe! Oh and giving the manager a bit of backing might help too.

Over the last 6 games, Villa just have 2 more points than Stoke. The only value of a draw is the gap between the two teams does not get wider. Three points and we in the hunt.

should be a cracker both teams have players who can hurt the opposition and both teams can wobble a bit in defense. hope saido plays as they will give him dogs abuse then he can rub their noses in it by scoring the winner head tells me 2-2 heart says 2-3 with saido scoring the winner

Good that Jack Grealish is out but I can see Abraham causing Ryan huge problems if he plays. I'm hoping we go with Indi and Williams today.
I'd go with
..............Butland.............. Martina..Williams....Indi...Pieters ..........Woods......Allen......... ..Ince........Berahino.....Clucas.. ...............Diouf...............
I think he'll go with

Draws are just no good anymore. We should be in the promotion hunt, the gap gets wider whenever we draw.
We've drawn too many games against garbage teams like rotherham, reading, qpr.
We have to be going for wins. Draws wont save Rowett his job.
We actually have a stronger squad than villa. Time we started punching our weight

I'd be really pleased with a draw today. Unless we have gone and missed a penalty in the last minute to win it or something like that of course! But overall, today, I would certainly take a point and move on.

Villa’s weakness is at the back (32 goals conceded).... Stoke need to be brave today and have a go.... But with Rowett in charge ‘pigs might fly’. 😒
Massive game today.... Goarnnnnn Stoke!!! ⚽️

After match statement by Rowett. "It was always going to be a hard place to come too. I thought we looked a bit leggy did not start well but after conceding the first two I thought we had a real go we are just missing that bit of quality in the last third."
Reporter: "Have you considered Bojan for the next game."
Rowett: "Who I think your forgetting just how good McClean really is, I do not accept the one you call Bojan he plays too much football." "I thought Crouchie was a problem for them in the last 10 minutes

If rowett sets us up like he did at reading where we were passive and sat off and let their centre halves come out with the ball unchallenged then I think we'll get beat we conceded two poor goals against reading and we simply can't afford to do that today even with grealish out they still have kodja, Abraham, bolasie,el ghazi who have proven in recent games they can score goals we know their defence can be got at but so can ours I think it'll come down to which attack is the most potent and I fear it will be theirs.

Reading away we started really well played good attacking football but missed three sitters. Last twenty minutes was the problem there not how they were set up at the start. As for today yes expect goals at both ends, need to defend well and attack too. We won't sunny just defending or just attacking.
