This post does not in anyway condone the minority of individuals from “Stoke on Trent” that were intent of causing damage or engage in public disorder confrontations in, and around Burslem (the Mother town) on Tuesday 4 December.
I wonder if the Sentinel in respect of “balance” will seek comment from Mr Smurthwaite on the following (yes they read the Oatcake)?
An open letter to Mr Smurthwaite: Owner of Port Vale FC
Dear Sir
As you have used the local media to (a) pursue claims for monetary recompense from the visiting football club for your inability to implement basic crowd control measures within the stadium and (b) established a smokescreen for personal failures of crowd control can you provide insightful answers to the following;
1. Why were home supporter ticket sales not confined to the Bycars section of the ground only? 2. Did you request that ticket sales for supporters of SCFC were restricted to season ticket holders only? 3. Were seat tickets for the Hamil Road end of the stadium sold by section/row and seat number, if not why not? 4. Can you please publicise the job descrition of a “ Matchday Steward” for PVFC? 5. Can you please confirm that all match day stewards are fully informed and trained in respect of their matchday responsibilities? 6. Can you confirm that adequate competent supervision is in place for matchday stewards? 7. Did you discuss the provision of uniformed officers in the concourse/toilet areas with the local constabulary, if not why not? 8. Was alcohol sold within the stadium on the 4 December, if yes what was the rationale for such sales?
Your earliest and most public response would be appreciated

Best of it is, cost of a few small panes of glass = approx £100, 4 or 5 new bog seats (soft close obviously) at £15 each = £75, labour for 3 hours = £120 ish or you are being robbed. A dozen yeller and black seats god knows, but he is asking for £100,000 !!!!!!!!!! Ever likely Saint Peter ain't answering his phone.

Poor old Peter is going to end up paying way over the odds here just for a quiet life isn't he?! I suppose in the end however much it is it won't be a blip on the radar compared to the £36 million pounds he was persuaded to simply piss up the wall on Imbula and Kev Wimmer!

That pair of cunts should be driven to Fail Park to do the repairs personally. Especially the work to the toilets as they are a complete pair of shithouses, and should therefore feel very much at home.

The local media have really made us look bad, there was nothing about the Vile fans ripping the segregation put in place and therefore getting close to stoke fans as possible. One Prominent Vile fan who has appeared in the local and national media condemning Stokes actions was seen in his VLF balaclava bigging up the mindless violence that took place their and other Vile games.

All that would be irrelevant IF the knob heads had behaved themselves. I don't need police to stop me smashing windows etc and neither should Stoke fans.

So many things they could have done to stop most of what happened. You could have wrote if from a vale owner like him.

P.S - Next time your 'supporters' have a whip round to pay for a plane to fly a banner over an empty Stoke City stadium, why don't you ask them to pay for a few ground improvements? The Great Wall of China was completed quicker than the Lorne Street

Or is he asking for & 100,000 so they can actually finish it off.

Alcohol was served at the ground and I enjoyed a bottle of cider but guess what I didn't smash any windows or toilets!
Go figure.

I'd want an itemised bill down to the last washer before I gave Smurfwaite a penny.
In fact I'd tell him to sling his hook.

If the game was played at our place the exact same thing would have happened to our away end.
