I’ve loved and supported Stoke for over fifty years, I’ve seen violence and I’ve seen the sorry state of victims but what seems to have been happening in the past couple of years at this club is an undercurrent of hate and a loss of dignity.
The way so called supporters talk with such venom and disrespect about our players and managers is something I’ve never witnessed before and worse still when criticised these foul mouth hate filled people are defended by others. Players that have served us well and for a long time are called everything from w**kers to c**ts as they come to the end of their careers, careers in which they have positively contributed to the Stoke cause.
Managers receive the same treatment even before they’ve managed a single game and God forbid if the manager picks a team that a bunch of “supporters”, who all have differing ideas”, don’t agree with.
Coates is pulled apart for not doing as he is told by the morons who criticise him, yet he has spent millions, kept season tickets at the same price for ten years and pays for away travel. I travelled to Reading watched a football match for £20!!! Yet I’ve read people having a go at the standard of the service.
I was ridiculed when I complained about the disgusting adult that urinated in the wash basin at WHU (I think), I spoke about the kids that would follow, kid who would hardly be able to reach the taps and therefore resting their arms on the urine coated ceramic. No I was an idiot, the toilets get crowded, if I didn’t want to mix with people like that I shouldn’t go to football matches and yes I was a snowflake and as usual the sheep followed.
When we travel away how many of us have to put up with drunks and druggies falling over you, puking up and just intimidating others?
How often have I read “if you don’t like it in the South Stand f*ck off elsewhere.” Well it seems the regulars ahave f*cked off elsewhere looking at the stand Vs Derby, so much for loyalty.
And tonight? I really thought it would be a great night with plenty of banter and a great atmosphere, I really should know better, tonight shouldn’t have come as a surprise with the imbeciles we have, sucking parasites draining the blood out of a club that through history has been regarded as one of the great founders of ordered football competition.
These people came to the match for one reason and one reason only, they wanted to flex their muscles, they were showing the City of Stoke on Trent they were the superior ones, they are the followers of the number one club in our city. Port Vale are not fit to wipe our boots, their supporters should stand aside and bow their heads as we walk by. Their ground is a toilet compared to ours and Robbie Williams is a thick gorilla because he dares to support them. Yet who really is superior, who kept their dignity on the whole?
There is a sickness in our support, a minority of weak mind, unintelligent morons who dare to call you and i snowflakes if we disagree with them and then when you challenge them bombard you with filthy language or even threaten you should they ever find out who you are. This sickness will is genetic it will be handed down to sons and daughters, too often I’ve seen fathers shouting their filth and laughing when their own sons of 10 or 11 copy the fine example.
This is a club that has been graced by Soo, Dobing, Matthews, Banks, Ritchie, Hudson, Geoff Hurst, Stein, Fuller, Crouch, managed by Waddington, Durban, Macari, yes Pulis, sadly it’s club that has been besmirched by a pathetic few.
Every real supporter that abhors what has happened this evening and what is happening to the dignity of this club please show your disappointment, your disgust whenever you witness the vomit these idiots project whether on match day or when you read it in the media.
I am Stoke, you are Stoke, they are not.

Obviously it is ridiculous damaging the stadium etc. However the Vale supporters were throwing coins etc into Stoke fans before, during and after the match and before someone shoots me down our fans were also guilty of similar things. The thing that really upset me was leaving the ground and we were penned in behind the police line. The inevitable happened and our fans pushed forward. I was at the front with many others not looking for trouble but to try and get home as soon as the police let us go. As everyone surged forward me and another Stokie fell to the floor and were trampled on by the crowd, worst thing I've had to go through at football. It seemed like ages, it was probably only ten seconds but with the help of a few stokies and if you are on here thanks lads we were dragged up to safety. The thing that hurt the most was the reluctance of the police after, the fellow stokie couldn't breathe. I was screaming for them to help but they were bound to orders apparantly, which leads me to my final thanks to the bouncer/s from the Vale club by the away end who carried the stoke fan to safety and hoping he is safe and well. Could have easily been a disaster tonight

I just hope the other stoke fan is ok as he seemed to be struggling to breathe when he was carried away.

I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to set-up any kind of fundraising.
Port Vale will have insurance, presumably the companies that provide insurance to football clubs will know perfectly well how to go about their business. If they can claim money back from Stoke, they will. If they claim the money from the numpties who caused the damage, I'm sure they will.
What isn't really needed is for the average person who happens to follow Stoke to pay for damage that will invariably be covered one way or another already.

Why is anyone surprised about what happened tonight? It was always going be like this. I’m not saying what happened is acceptable By any means but surely you’re not that naive to think it wasn’t going to happen? Could you point us in the direction of your predictions about this level of vandalism and disorder before the match took place?

The moment that summed it up for me was when one the numerous shards of seat that had been ripped out narrowly missed one of lads on the pitch.
Would have they given a fuck if they'd injured one of their own youth players? Would the fuck?
Do they think that circus helped the lads? Did it fuck.
Absolutely arseholes.

Can I just say this.... as usually a voice of reason.... yes what went on was unacceptable but those Vale fans giving it portions on Twitter about what went on.... Anyone fancy debating the idea that Vale fans WOULDN'T have trashed the Brit/bet365 had it been at our place? Didn't think so.... They smashed the bogs and roof panels in there on their last visit.

Ok maybe I didn’t think they’d smash the away end up but It was pretty much nailed on that there was going to be trouble. I’ve started taking my niece the game the past 2 years every other one and last night I knew it would be like that so I didn’t take her. Because she wouldn’t like seeing what was going on and I wouldn’t want her to see it. I know football shouldn’t be like that but it is and anyone who thought last night would have been trouble free is naive to think like that.

Shit happens, people need to get over it and those caught on camera dicking about, well, you only have yourself to blame when you get a knock on the door.

Together with my colleagues in the FSF, we spend a lot of time defending and supporting football fans when stewards, the police or the football authorities have mistreated or disrespected them. On many occasions this has included Stoke fans over the years ( For example, I remember the extended legal fight - eventually successful, with considerable compo - we had against GMP over the Irlam incident, and later getting the Assistant Chief Constable down to Stoke to personally apologise for the way fans returning from Bolton were treated in Manchester). In many meetings with the police, clubs and football authorities I have defended fans in general and Stoke fans in particular. I wasn't there last night because I don't think we should be in this competition at all. I was at York watching them play Leamington in what might be the last ever floodlit game at Bootham Crescent, but was horrified on the train home and this morning to read on social media what had gone on. Horrified and embarrassed, because this incident, which is a real throw back to the dark days of football hooliganism, will undoubtedly make it more likely that we will receive heavier policing and stewarding in our away games from now on, and it will be more difficult to argue against that. I was already saddened by the tone of some of the social media abuse, including on this Board, against fellow football fans from the great City of Stoke who just happen to support a smaller club, and share your views about that (and in my opinion you are also right about some of the language used against our own players and our own club), but to see that translated into serious and pointless criminal damage is very, very disappointing. I wonder why we bother.

I wonder why we bother. are you saying you dont hate vale Malcolm? clear off up the vale then!!! a lot of what was going on last night was beyond unsavoury in particular the fire extinguisher use, that was beyond silly and if that had been launched it would have caused very serious injury or worse in all fairness every effort was made to keep things calm and us happy but on reflection selling beer before during and at half time was bloody stupid, im afraid that too much beer and the pack mentality took over, there was a lot of faces last night that havent been seen for years and a lot of kids looking to make a story to tell at school today but from saturday on it will back to normal sedentary fans just out of interest how many incidents have stoke been involved in like this over the last 10-15 years? (not sure if you have the figures)
