Got to be honest and say that the thing that gets me is some people are genuinely surprised that this happened, as soon as the draw came out and you got the whole end it was always going to end up in trouble of some sort, Why is it "bound to happen"? We are all adults (?) why can't we go to watch our football team without all hell breaking loose?

"Inevitable" implies nothing can be done about it and in effect we have to expect it to happen and put up with it. That's very different to saying there was a strong possibility of it happening - that's just a prediction, not a form of acceptance. I don't think this is "inevitable", something could and should be done about it and I don't believe I should have to put up with it - which includes having to listen to the half arsed justifications being cobbled together by the saddos who want to pass this off as in any way excusable. I don't believe you are making excuses but describing it is inevitable puts you on a fence that no-one should be sitting on. This is one where you either condone or condemn. Incidentally I'm not a pacifist. There are times where civil disobedience and disorder can be justified. Anyone claiming this is one of the them is a moron. This was mindless aggression - idiots getting their rocks off by indulging in a bit of macho posturing and willfull destruction. It's utterly pathetic. I'm not quite sure what your trying to say there The thread was a match report thread hence why I commented on the game, as for the trouble I totally deplore it like I've said and I agree with you. Not sure what your problem is with me but if you check any of my posts not once have I condoned trouble I'm not accussing you of condoning the trouble - i'm just pointing out that saying it was inevitable is different to saying it was predictable. By saying it was inevitable effectively you are saying it is a fact of life we have to put with. As soon as the majority accept that position the troublemakers have effectively been told to crack on because nobody is going to do anything about it - their behaviour is just inevitable. I'm not going to accept the behaviour was inevitable -and if you do believe that the consequences are very dangerous. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." It's in human nature to behave appallingly - and very bad things will happen if we stand aside and let it happen. Fortunately if we do something - even if it's just condemning it on a message board - it isn't inevitable.

Mate the warning signs were there for all to see, you ain't played them for ages, the young kids have been brought up with the stories of how bad it was "back in the good old days", rightly or wrongly that's what happened and did alarm bells not start ringing when 4,000 tickets for a youth team game shifted so quickly?. Ironically while at the Blues game I told all my mates you watch this stoke Vale game it's deffo going to blow up in some shape or form. As for the we're all adults looking at the ages of those arrested 18-61 I believe that maybe mental ages don't match up to years lived in the Stoke on Trent area! And that also applies to any area containing football teams, some of the abuse I heard being dished out at our Derby came from men and women older than me and I'm over 55!

You are depressingly correct I am a little older than you and Wednesday heard a Woman several years older than me belting out 'kick f!!! out the Vale' with school kids standing right in front of her.

So it seems 7 or 8 pillocks caused the damage in the toilet block - not 4,000 fans.
Surely they can be found by the police.Wait for the knock on the door you idiots.

my favourite bit is this "the Vale owner has revealed he has contacted Stoke City to discuss who should pay for the damage, but says he's has so far been unable to have meaningful talks with anyone at a higher level there" as i predicted on twitter earlier today he is banging on the doors down at the 365 and being ignored and left out in the rain, Coates wouldnt even let Vale borrow our indoor pitch a couple of years back in the snow and frost so what chance of him giving him 100,000? and 100,000 is a giggle you could rebuild vile park for that

The state of some of the Vale replies to this tweet. Thick as two short planks. I’ll have a read Dave but I wouldn’t expect any different mate Despite their magnificent victory against 'Stoke' nothing will ever take away that nagging realisation that, in the grand scheme of things, they'll never be anything of note! It's the innate bitterness of the Vale fan!

My honest opinion about the events are: Of the night: I don't agree with people trashing toilets, jumping on cars, smashing windows or throwing plastic bottles on the pitch. If fans want to fight each other only fight the ones that want to, i admit after a few beers against your rivals you do get a buzz, right or wrong but don't get those who don't want to be involved, involved. Stoke should pay the insurance excess. Vale fans were waving their VLF flag , giving it the big i am wave and pointing to come over to the paddock.
Before the night
I had many vale fans , friends, texting me saying Stoke have no lads anymore, the VLF will be there so get ready to run etc. These are lads that can't take banter at them and did get excited by there jumping over the paddock wall and waving arms at Bolton fans then jumping back in ( really tough). I know it sounds daft, it does to me at times and i’m 38, can you imagine when it's said between youngsters , it’s built up and built up and i think that it’s being coming to a head since the draw to prove a point.
I think Smurfwaite knew he could only sell more home tickets if he gave Vale the paddock so to me he knew there was a chance there could be trouble.

The bloke jumping up and down on that women’s car needed his fucking feet pulling from underneath him. Pissed me off on ITV News yesterday they showed that, blurred out the face, then appealed for witnesses! What the fuck? Anyway, if he's going to bounce up and down on that car, the owner should be allowed to bounce up and down on his head.

They haven't got a clue how to handle big matches round Burslem, which doesn't come as a surprise when the local team is a tiny, insignificant club who rarely host clubs bigger than Crewe and Stevenage. When they do, Wolves, Bolton, Forest, Coventry and Stoke take the piss and run amok. They haven't got the infrastructure to handle it.
As the VLF, stick to Grimsby and Chesterfield. About your level. Shitters.
