Booked it this afternoon for next summer, Jesus h Christ.... I’ve never lost so much money so quickly in my life, not counting a trip to sinless in Blackpool when On a weekend bender. My question to you is how to plan the two week trip, bought Disney and universal passes through tui, any travel tips much appreciated.

And (large) Elastoplast in case of blisters.

Unless it has moved visiting Disneyland whilst staying in Florida is very ambitious, it's a good 4 or 5 hour flight, not even sure if you can fly direct from Orlando to LA. Personally I'd stick to Disneyworld.

My question to you is how to plan the two week trip, bought Disney and universal passes through tui, any travel tips much appreciated. These bits and pieces are more of a 'Visiting Disney and Universal Studios - for when you get there' rather than travel tips, but I hope you might find them of use - I reminded myself of them by checking what I posted on a similar thread we had at the beginning of the year: 'Front of the Line' passes: If you go to anywhere where there will be long queues all over the place - eg. the huge theme parks - it should be possible to buy 'Front of the Line' passes for anything you want to go on - ignore the price and just get them - they're SO worthwhile. I haven't been to Florida and my recommendation is based on both Disney and Universal Studios Los Angeles, but the set-up for all the touristy places/things will be the same. This is a tip to save time rather than money, but, believe me, when you glide past everyone in the massive queue and get straight on to the ride you'll be SO glad you got the pass. One ride worth knowing about is the Jurassic Park Ride. You pootle along a little 'river' in a boat about 8 feet wide and 25 feet long, in tranquil and very leisurely fashion, hugely enjoying the fun of seeing and hearing some of the Jurassic Park-type animals on the riverbank and then you go into a long dark tunnel/cave. At the very end of this tunnel the boat comes to a stop and very slowly and gradually tips until it's practically standing vertically on its front end - it then stays still, like that, for (what seemed like) maybe 20 or 30 seconds whilst you suddenly get a projected image of a giant T-Rex right in front and roaring at you, before the boat rushes, or more like zooms at rocket speed, down through a water chute. This boat-tipping was especially nerve-shredding as I was sitting on the very back row of the boat and so was highest with a much greater distance to fall. Quote: "Flaaaaaaaaamin' Nora……." I literally thought 'we're all gonna die……..' - but we all just got soaked to the skin from the water chute and couldn't stop laughing when it was all over and we were back on dry land. Don't miss it! And let me just also mention this in case there's another same ride there called the Tower Lift-Drop - this apparently leaves riders traumatised for life, or quite a while, anyway. I didn't partake - I stood watching all the ashen-faced survivors people and jibbering wrecks staggering or crawling walking off it for a while first and decided to give it a miss as I was over there on my own and there was no-one to fly the body back. So you've been warned, as this ride apparently is really an experience you might not want to repeat!

went earlier this year
make use of the disney app on the phone to book ride places, you can have 3 at a time booked, saves queuing
use hotel shuttle buses for disney parks as the parking is so expensive if you are driving yourself, the buses are much more regular for disney than universal
Universal, just drive!

If you are driving go to Disney springs ( the shopping centre) it's free to park there then get the free disney busses to where ever you want. Also if you're a space geek like me, go to NASA about a 50 minute drive away my favourite part of the holiday. Also the rides at universal are far better than at disney.

But Disney is just pure magic and fantasy

To update the thread. Currently sat drinking overpriced beer in universal, Orlando .... where to start. Nothing is cheap here even Walmart for a twelve pack is scandelous $14.95 for 12 of your finest wife beater as opposed to $7.25 per can/bottle in hotel(universal resort hotel) . The parks are generally good, except magic kingdom that I can say caters for 0-7 age group and nothing more, food ...... scandelous !!! Animal kingdom was good , do it if you get the chance. So to both the universal parks....I-drive reminded me of Blackpool when the lights are on.... and the locals are funny old soles, polite and well mannered but weird. Tuesday topped 110 and the silly cunts were still going around with Harry Potter capes on.

Get a car and head to the nearby coast, there are some fantastic beaches within an hour on the Atlantic coast.

I’ve been lucky enough to go 4 times when the age of my kids ranged from 5 to 11 and last time when they 15 to 21. Every time was different as the kids grew into different things. The first trip was about the traditional Disney parks and character meets, the later ones about the bigger thrill rides and shark dive experiences.
I absolutely love the place and the culture which although a bit false and cheesy is innocent enough.
You can get good deals with tickets and be sensible with money. We self catered but still found diners away from the parks reasonable value.
Will definitely be going back, hopefully when I’m a granddad and start a whole new experience again with little ones....just hope I’m not too frail for The Hulk ride.😂😂

We have booked for Easter 2020, know a lot of people who have taken kids out school to do it but see8ng as wife is a teacher, that’s a non starter for us. Booked villa and flights and guy in-laws know over there is sorting park tickets etc so am working on principle he knows what he’s doing. 6 of us going, 2 kids and the in-laws are coming and splitting costs between us basically, can see this being only time we go as it’s flipping expensive and we’re planning on self catering or most of it with occasional nights out. Youngest has her birthday when over there so we may book a night in a Disney hotel so she can wake up in the park on her birthday but, like most things, will depend on £$

I stand by my Blackpool comment but would only apply that to idrive in the 2/3 miles we’ve been too around icon park. Some of the universal rides ‘transformers’ and the log flume( name escapes me) are amazing. My kids are 14 and 9 and generally we’ve catered easily for both, usually it’s a battle to get them to do what the other wants.

Busch gardens is a drive but much better I thought, Gatorland is good the first time you go but fuck off am I going on the wire slide above it. Kennedy is good to visit too, I also thought dennys and ihop were pretty reasonable for breakfasts or lunch.
