Thought it might be worth having a thread for What's On based on the useful public information provided in the recent Wedding Present play Gladstone Pottery Museum thread which although I'm on holiday for that had a really useful link to the Eleven venue at Sandyford
This is not meant to be confined to music. I know that BJR waxes lyrical about the New Vic.
Here's the link to Eleven. www.elevenmusicvenue.co.uk/

Is that the Jasper Carrot gig... No, to be honest Bath I don't know what it is!. I book 3/4 /5 at the beginning of the season and like the surprise of turning up not knowing. My wife and the people I go with are sworn to silence! Peculiar isn't it. I know it isn't Jasper though. it's in my diary but I think that's on a Thursday in November. I reckon Bagwash will probably know!

It's the annual swingers get together evening Bath. That was 2 weeks ago Felonious, unless you know something I don't! I remembered after cracking the joke of an old friend of mine who bought a house with the most fabulous clump of pampas grass growing at the top of the drive. After being informed of it's significance by a few of us taking the p he never removed it

Black Grape at Keele Uni tomorrow night. I heard Shaun Ryder talking to one of the female presenters on Radio Stoke earlier this week who's obviously a big fan going back to early days, cracking conversation, full of charm
I noticed a poster a few months back saying that Gerri Halliwell had played there the previous week, sorry I couldn't have given you fans some advance warning

Hugh Cornwell Hanley The Former Stranglers frontman is on at the Sugarmill tonight. Having already seen him deliver a great set this year, I’m expecting a good night.

Hugh Cornwell Hanley The Former Stranglers frontman is on at the Sugarmill tonight. Having already seen him deliver a great set this year, I’m expecting a good night. Had a good night at the Cornwell gig. Enjoyed his 'Peaches'. But the Stranglers sound was awfully thin without the swirling keyboards. Glad I went {and a couple in The Woodman beforehand}. Caught up with loads of folk, good night, glad I went but don't think I'll rush to see him again. It's made me want to go see the other Stranglers now. Went the Underground after for the Beyond The Sun psyche night, but the main band URF pissed off. Bit of a bummer. Next punk-out is UK Subs Eleven Club nov 22nd. 'Stranglehold'. 10 o'clock Chemical, Pilgrims Pit toneet perhaps.

Sunday 2nd of December A500 Music have the band Honey Ryder on at Fulford Village Hall. Ticket and other information on the website in my signature below but if you want to buy tickets, avoiding the online booking fee, just send me a PM.
It's always a good night and you can bring your own booze along, thus avoiding paying the inflated bar prices you get charged at other venues.

Had a chat with Jah Wobble about Stoke Arsenal semi final games (he's a Spurs man) when he played the Freetown club eons ago. Good bloke knows his football and a proper artist too.

Saw her at The Sugarmill a decade or more ago. She was very good, supported by a very interesting, almost skiffle group called The Slow Club, playing the backs of chairs etc.

Yeah, Jah Wobble visiting Easter time too. Look forward to that. Had a chat with Jah Wobble about Stoke Arsenal semi final games (he's a Spurs man) when he played the Freetown club eons ago. Good bloke knows his football and a proper artist too. I missed that one. Away at the time, never seen him but a big fan of his work with PIL, The Invaders of the Heart stuff, and even the collaborations he's done with Jaki Leibzeit Can etc. Havn't heard anything by him 'new' since about 2000. I'll do some research before March. Should be a good one, does seem to be picking up a bit live music wise. I think Hanley is blessed with a good range of different sized venues. And unfortunately a few that have shut {but wonder if there still is a potential to re-open.} I saw Super Furry Animals at the Mike Lloyd Theatre venue in Hanley, was it the Vic? Sloping floors, a great place. Nevertheless S'Mill, Underground, Exchange, Victoria Hall offer a range of size. Unfortunately it's just that Hanley became a shit hole/cheap late drinks dive, not necessarily attractive to gig goers. I'm hopeful that things are turning for the positive, things perhaps do go in cycles. It became a struggle to fill venues in Hanley, became a bit self perpetuating it seems. Not just my old man view, I've heard it said by many a music fan/gig goer. The Cultural Quarter is gradually improving/growing. Mart's Brew & Tap has started to use a largish space upstairs for gigs: Rory Gallagher tribute band so far, but there's moves for more 'alternative' bands in the new year. With The Woodman re opening I'm hoping the positivity spreads through Hanley duck. I like the Sugarmill with the roof space, and for what it is, the Underground with the low stage allows for a great atmosphere {Discharge 22/12}. And the Victoria Hall is a brilliant venue. We've got the spaces, hope a bit more is starting to happen in them. Seems that there's even a resurgence of the Dance thing, Golden reunions etc. Interesting times, musically. Quite a few good local bands too.
