Yeah the blokes useless , look how we have stormed forward in the 10 months since he left , our massive improvement on 9th is staggering . It’s so obvious he should have Been replaced years prior and as soon as scholes and co were liberated from his constraints s it’s obvious we would scaie the great heights we have since then ..
I suggest infact Hughes like lambert and Rowett after him is not without accountability but he isn’t he reason we are where we are today

Even if Southampton do go down the pan, he'll just get sacked or bail out around February, move to another Prem club and then bang on about how he's never been relegated. Dick. He will struggle to get another prem job when he ultimately gets sacked again. Yeah I can't see many clubs queuing up for him after this Southampton stint. That being said, I never thought I'd see Lambert in the Prem again.

Mark Hughes couldn't organise a defence in a game of table football

I see he’s already dropped his £18m centre half due to poor form. You’d think he’d have worked out by now that simply being tall doesn’t make a good defender. 18m really? That is a seriously unlucky number for Hughes when it comes to transfer fees

I really don’t share this hatred of Hughes.
He should have been fired earlier but that’s surely Coates fault for not seeing the titanic sinking before his eyes.
I do think he’s been found out and Saints will he his last Prem job. But I find him way to bland to hate- he’s alright by me

He coaches / manages how he was coached managed. With all the high flying clubs all they do drill attack as they have gun defenders (paid for at top dollar) who know what they are doing and expect to have a majority of the ball. I remember Danny Higginbottom saying it was a culture shock moving from Man Utd to Derby as it was nearly all defensive training there and he'd barely done that before.
I'm not sticking up for the bloke and I hold him almost entirely responsible for our demise. But for a club that's always going to be around mid table and will need to have a defensive spine, there's no point appointing a manager who's only ever trained / played and managed with attack in mind. Pulis had his limitations, some of the them glaring, but he knew how to get the team to defend and to scrap out ugly results.

Hughes always deals with these games against top 6 as bonus games, Southampton is not good but still a bit better than Cardiff, Udders, Fulham, New Castle.

Hughes knows what he's doing going forward but defensively he couldn't stop us conceding if he was allowed to use concrete and bricks for a goal line He took what Pulis left behind and added flare Thought flares were banned in stadiums 😉I often used to wear flares at the Vic in the 70's and no one ever complained then. Times have certainly changed.

The only reason Hughes had a couple of decent seasons was because our defensive players kept the fight that Pulis drilled in to the squad As the years went by you could see that dogged stubbornness disappear The best team we had was when we had the blend of Pulis’ DNA with the flair which Hughes introduced as well as getting some players like n’Zonzi and Adam playing to their strengths. We got the best of both worlds for a couple of seasons

SGS It hasn’t taken him long to make his mark. He has introduced zonal marking which will fuck them up.it won’t be long before he goes 3 at the back. If they want to stay up, they will have to sack the twat.

I expect he'll keep them up comfortably this season despite his many flaws - he needs a few seasons to work his magic on their defence. I expected Cardiff, Newcastle, Huddersfield, and Fulham to make up the bottom 4 (no idea of the order). Then Southampton, Palace, Brighton, Wolves, Bournemouth, Watford, Burnley in the pack above them.
There is a gulf in class between the top two, the next 6, and the rest of the league.
