Met a woman on line who lives in America, been speaking and chatting for about 5 months.
Considering going over for a couple of weeks, anyone done similar?
Is it really worth it dating / relationship so far apart?

On-line is really the only way to meet someone these days but you can not take anything seriously until you have met in person. I've been in NY for 8 years 2 GF's I met in the real world (1 at a wedding, 1 on the subway) the other 3 were on-line. No harm taking a vacation with benefits but I would not recommend you get into anything serious or make it an exclusive relationship unless you have a limitless travel budget and fancy yourself as a part-time James Bond.

I’m seeing someone who lives in Boston, MA and it’s going strong (with plans to marry in the future). I think the fact that we can use social media to share, chat etc (including messanger Video calls) allow us to really keep in contact and share each other’s lives, less the physical side as often. Yes I miss her physically, we can share intimate moments still, yet we agreed nothing will happen until we are married. The good thing is that the ocean has allowed us to really get to know each other without the distraction of sex (she is bloody gorgeous and fit!!) but we are still “on fire for each other” in that regards.... It’s been a year together and it’s amazing... it’s old school dating with new school technology 😌😌 Note: I met her in person first, but it’s still relevant for the long distance reasons |

When we got together, I was used to meeting women in bars, clubs, pubs, maybe at work etc, chatting them up, getting their number and sending a text, seeing where it goes. To me, that was the modern equivalent of "here's my number" written on your hand and you going home and giving a call. Since breaking up, obviously I've been looking at it, and it's all Tinder this, POF that.... don't really get it.... but there we go. In answer to the OP, I think long distance relationships can work, but the distance is too much in your case... just my opinion though. |

You need good calendaring skills and a budget to match it. 1st date I went on - 4 drinks + tip $120 and you know within the 1st few mins that it's a one and done date. The goal here is definitely quality over quantity. And back to the OP this is why I ended up here 30 years ago! Part timeJames Bond in the US or a bloke from Stoke in the UK... it was a easy choice in my 20s! |
