I liked the carling ads esp the dam busters one. And the cinzano ads were good. Today's adverts are all designed to tug on your heart strings asking for a donation to childs/puppies /donkeys/polar bears imo it is plain wrong they are fleecing pensioners out of their money at the same time many are to scared to put the heating on because of the bills. All these charities have one thing in common a md earning over 200k per year?

I agree as a former publican I much preferred if my local pensioners to spend there money on the drink There is without doubt a lack of humour in adverts today I think it’s more to do with the overwhelming desire not to be accused of upsetting some group or other

Yes those Harp ads were good as were the Carling Black Label ones especially with the Oblivion Brothers, my fave being the mind reader one. The Tango ones also worth a mention with I think my all time favourite with 'Ray Gardener'.... Starts off in an office then ventures outside to background music of Felix - Don't You Want Me and ends up in a boxing ring on top of the white cliffs of Dover with three harrier jump jets in the background!

R Whites lemonade for multiple reasons
1- it's a cracking ad that screams 70s and ran for the length of the decade in various guides 2 - it's ridiculously catchy and at 30 seconds long, never outstays it's welcome 3- the song is sung by Elvis Costellos dad with a young Elvis Costello on backing vocals 4- the mum is Julie Dawn Cole, the immortal (and still the definite) veruca salt from Charlie and the Cholocate factory 5 - the dad is the mime who played tennis with him self in The seminal 1960s Blow Up

My favourite advert from the 90s was The Sweeney spoof of the Nissan Almera. Ironic because it was a ghastly car and a far cry from Regan's 1974 Ford Consul 3000 GT (surely the greatest ever TV car?). It's on YouTube only in very poor resolution.

And when you were a kid, the adverts went into overdrive at Christmas, giving you ideas for your letter to Santa. Bloody brilliant: Hot Wheels, Action Man, Rockin’ Robots. Even Kerplunk looked exciting.
