Many Islamic countries adopted the star and crescent moon on their flags. What they didn't realise is the symbol on their flag represents the Biblical quote from John 3:30 - “He must increase, but I must decrease,” spoken by John the Baptist about Jesus. Here, the waning crescent moon stands for John, and the bright star stands for Jesus. All based on fiction, how sad Which bit is fiction? Are you denying the existence of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_the_Baptist

Seems ironic to argue about religion on a thread about the 11th September attacks.😞

The belief follows that Mohamed was the most recent prophet from God therefore his is the word of God. Christians, Jews and Muslims all believe in the same God just differ in their acceptance of phrophets and the arrival of the saviour, for Christians it has happened where as Jews and Muslims are still waiting but the Muslims have had prophets in between and the Jews haven’t. It’s quite possibly one of the stupid argument over religion you could ever have, then again it could be compared to football and us our God is Stoke but we have all had different saviours who would lead us from the darkness for example, Waddington is Moses, Macari was Jesus and Pulis was Mohamed everybody has their favourites usually who was around at the time you were young and impressionable.

Recommend anyone to watch the documentary/drama The Looming Towers.
Highlights the feud between the FBI and CIA which could've prevented 9/11 if they shared more intelligence.

Matt I would agree with much of this Matt. I would add though: The clash/ culture clash/ terrorism issues are between Islam and Western values ( which I suppose that you could argue encompass some of the Judeo-Christian tradition, but have adapted/ changed to theoretically allowed enlightenment/ freedom of thought/ scrutiny/ questioning etc) The problem with Islam is that it is seen as the word for word unchallengeable message/ instructions from Allah and CANNOT be changed or even challenged. Secondly it encompasses political and legal obligations ( in my opinion) and cannot adapt/ tolerate other communities/ mindsets/ systems. Thirdly , when it was made-up( it is either True OR made-up up/ invented) it deliberately ensured that it encompasses everything preceding it..,..its then enemies Jews and Christians....so the main point in it is that the Jewish prophets were right/ recognised, Jesus was a prophet/ recognised....BUT MUHAMMED, peace be upon him, IS the greatest and last prophet.....and don't dare question it. Fourthly It is growing world- wide

Take time to watch this. Had me in shivers, very emotional, and some very thought provoking still pictures. That cover of the song by Disturbed is powerful. First time I heard it when it came out I was stunned, better than the original, and much more raw and emotional. That was also a very touching video, some powerful images there, very powerful.

Anyway, I thought it was a Waxing moon, not a Waning one, like the start of Ramadan is at the start of the moon. You’re right about the star & crescent being way older than Islam though☪️

No, there is significant doubt about whether Jesus existed - even the link you give basically admits it. I don’t know what you mean by “contemporary” evidence. There is literally no evidence at all of Jesus’ existence from the time he was supposedly alive.

There is literally no evidence at all of Jesus’ existence from the time he was supposedly alive. Where in the link does it say there is doubt? The link says there is a great deal of evidence of the existence of Jesus. By contemporary I mean the writings of those who were alive at the time of Jesus and those who wrote accounts at the time people when were still alive at the time of Jesus. I think the most telling evidence that he existed is that there was no debate about his existence in the century after he was alive; "everyone" knew it was true then. Many Roman rulers in the first three centuries AD (CE if you prefer) tried to stamp out Christianity, none of them said Jesus did not exist. As I said before whether you believe he was the Son of God and died to pay for your sins, just another prophet like the Muslims do, a mad man, or a con man, is up to you, but to say he did not exist is nonsense. If he did not exist, then the stories of his life must be the biggest hoax in history.
