I'd rather have kept Wollscheid. Which speaks volumes. Larry Grayson was better than Wolly......at least he could shut that door!

Wimmer was so poor at defending that even Hughes noticed and dropped him from the team......... says it all really.

Thought we'd loaned with view to permanent for £10m 🤔? Must a dreamt it 😂 We have, but unless Hanover has found a money man, it seems unlikely they will be paying that.

Well the skill of Levy and his dark arts got pitted against the deseparate, deluded and hapless idiots at our place. And we got hung out to dry for £6M on McClean who WBA paid £1.5M for, hardly played him cos he was wank, and then got relegated - justify that! Lessons learned my arse...

It is actually short shrift......and on all evidence of his displays for us we were quite right in giving it to him.
A truly terrible signing that will go down, alongside Gianelli Imbula, in the annals of this football club as one of the worst pieces of transfer business we ever did.
That the men who engineered both signings remain in a job to this day is truly bewildering and deeply disappointing.

I blame Scholes for the fee

Horrendous player. Does anyone know where Wollscheid is these days? Without a club. Is that true? Were we signing players that within 3 years are not even playing professional football anymore?! Jesus H.

He got short shift because he was a bit shit! Or maybe he was just never given the time to settle. He seems to be doing fine in germany, in the past and now. Wollscheidt did well in Germany and was given plenty of time to settle in at Stoke. This suggests the standard of attacking play in Germany is not what it is the PL. same goes for Diouf at the other end of the pitch.

No coincidence is it? Cause and effect. Signing Wimmer was of many contributing factors to relegation, selling Wollscheidt wasn’t. We sold Arni too and replaced him with a freebie. We couldn’t anticipate the personal issues that Jese had, which were very unfortunate. Nevertheless, Jese also contributed to the demise. And we kept Hughes. These were much bigger effects.

Wimmer is the most bewildering signing this club has ever made. He's often compared in the wank signings list alongside Imbula and Berahino which is unfair. Imbula and Berahino are clearly talented footballers but have shit attitudes. Wimmer is just basically shit. How anyone could rate him as worth £18m is truly unbelievable. Someone somewhere must have got very rich from that very dodgy deal.

Watched Wimmer last night. I'm not a fan of his, but I thought he was given very short thrift by us last season. He wasn't afforded much screen time in the game vs Dortmund, which is one way of saying that Hanover managed to keep Dortmund quiet, and the few times Wimmer came into action he did well. Still on our books. Short thrift? And rightly so. He was overweight, had absolutely no desire to dig in when on an unreal contract. £18 million was daylight robbery. Pretty sure the decimal point was in the wrong place. SGS

Maybe he will recover the form he had which prompted Spurs to buy him. If so, we have an asset next summer, to use or sell. At 25 he could yet get his career back on track. Always look on the bright side. Worst centre half We have had in our recent Premier League history and we paid £18m for him Criminal Better than Danny Collins surely

Wimmer was a fat petulant bitch, I called him Augustus gloop from Charlie and the Chololate Factory. He had a shit attitude throughout he thought he was better than he was and the team. We couldn't control the ball which was supposedly why we bought him to play out the back, he couldn't win aerial duels, he couldn't mark his man and even the manager who ended up paying an exorbitant £13mil pounds a ridiculous joke amount for him singing praises to the moon and back dropped him faster than he could jump ship here at Stoke. Wimmer is still subpar in the German league and to be honest you'd have to be mental to want him back here.

The Coates family are fully complicit by their failure to arrest and change course when the evidence of failure was there for all to see. That is not “hindsight”

He was totally out of his depth v league 2 Coventry
They were playing around him , they had him chasing shadows , a slight bit of acceleration from any Coventry player and they left him for dead .
He was clearly someone , never in a million years , good enough to play in league 2 .
How we came to sign him for 18 million to play in the prem is mind blowing .

I have it on good authority that it was a complete Hughes signing. He was told we wouldn't be signing him (value and wages excessive) and he absolutely kicked off....he needed him for his ill fated 3 at the back. WBA were interested which played right into Levy's hands ergo we pay over the odds for a bag of wank.

Alternatively, its a case of Levy saying to Scholes, "look into my eyes Tony.... you are starting to feel sleepy.. very very sleepy... ,, you never did want Dembele... you always wanted to sign Wimmer... say 'I always and only wanted Wimmer' Tony" We were all about to sign Janseen for 15m when there was a fire alarm... (Good name for him Levy. Defined as "impose a tax, fee or fine")
