A decent playmaker but certainly not a CDM he is mate. I've seen him many times play for Shrewsbury in that role

A decent playmaker but certainly not a CDM 223 career appearances, 164 as a defensive midfielder..... Oh ok, I was going off all the reports referring to him as a playmaker

A midfielder ... how unusual. Allen Ndiaye Etebo Sörensen Cameron Clucas Ince Fletcher Adam McCleyn Imbula Choupo-Moting Bojan Verlinden . . . Woods 6-8 of those players don't appear to be part of Rowett's future plans, a couple more have a question mark on them. If Rowett was to succeed in getting rid of all of them - highly unlikely but he will try - we could soon be looking for more midfielders.

Diamond? Yes ..of course... We haven't used that formation yet 😎 The new Stoke City team will be football intelligent, dynamic and interchangeable. Like all great teams.... Absolutely. We will be calling him Gary "Pep" Rowett soon.

he is mate. I've seen him many times play for Shrewsbury in that role Ok ok I take it back - bloody telegraph reports saying playmaker Seems to be a Huddlestone-y type who sits in front of the back 4. www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ryan-woods-player-west-brom-14831060“He’s very good on the ball, very composed and he’s got a good range of passing and he’s a very good player, someone who can thrive in the Premier League. “I’d liken him to an NFL quarterback in a way. He sits between the back four and the more advanced midfielders and would get the play going and break up attacks. “He can go under the radar but he was for many the best player of last season for Brentford because of the way he brings everyone else into the game and when he hasn’t played his presence has been missed by the team.” www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/west-brom-transfers-ryan-woods-14831412"He's special and I'm desperate to hold on to him. “He's the first player on the training pitch and the last off. He's a terrific kid and has some unbelievable ability." Just been reading the Shrewsbury forum and some of their fans saw him as a Premier League player who could play for England when they sold him in 2015.

Woods Allen Clucas and Etebo looks a top pool of midfielders We’re moving in the right direction. Once this team clicks we’ll be flying Keep the faith lads We will if we stop arseing about passing it across the back just for Ryan to lump it up to the forwards. A good formation now should 4-0-6

Probably a smokescreen, threatening to buy a good player so we can get our hands on the decrepit Huddlestone.

He is more like a Whelan type who is better on the ball but perhaps not quite so good defensively. If I had to compare I'd say Eric Dier who like him or not is what's needed

I just don't get this loan window. Why on earth would Brentford accept a loan with view to buy in January.
Surely they just say, kiss it, and come back in January when you may bid for him.

It's no different to them having sold him on the 1st of August. We pay them a £6.5 million loan fee now and chuck them a pound in January. Brentford are a selling club.

Guaranteed big money for a club like Brentford. We might not come back in January so are they prepared to take that risk?

I suppose it depends if the player kicks up a fuss and says I want to go thinking there will be no deal in January if he doesn’t. He’ll then risk losing out on a big signing on fee, big wage rise and long contract. That’s without Brentford risking losing that amount if they say no to a loan.
