Reality of our situation is sinking in slowly - world class players that we should be credited for signing, squandered by inept management and tentative owners who despite ridiculous wealth have been unwilling to commit fully to what it takes to stay in the top tier - same old tight arse small town small club mentality has blighted progress and killed the golden goose.
We are in for a big shock in the championship where unlike the prem, there are no whipping boys.......and promotion is a realistic prospect for 3/4 of the clubs involved....

Top top international player that wouldn't have signed for us otherwise. Still waiting for the link to that nugget. Just because you can't find a link to something doesn't mean you automatically have to dismiss the possibility of it. I mean if you can't consider the possibility that this was the case then you're letting your hatred of the transfer team blind you to things which are just common sense really.

Forgive me if I don’t join the love in for Shaquri. Enough said. Yeah. I agree. Diouf and Fletcher work hard. Who needs wasters like Shaq? Nuff said.

Without any evidence either way we just have to conclude that its another really, really fucking shit deal by the club and ride the punches to the gut as people laugh at the fee as next season progresses. Still the club are probably composing another hilarious tweet about things as we speak so its not all bad news.

Mate, there's shedloads about what's gone on that I'd agree with you and the masses on - the fee paid for Wimmer and the wage paid to Berahino probably being at the top of the ineptitude tree. I just prefer to judge each case on its merits, and overall, given all the circumstances I just don't see the granting of a relegation clause like this for Shaq, or the amount of the fee, as being such a ridiculous deal.

Add to that the fact he decided to fuck off practically the second we were relegated.. Why would I give a shit about mercenary players like him, or the bin dippers, or anything to do with scumbag rich premier league clubs at the moment, for that matter. We have more immediate concerns. Indeed and more pressing and worrying concerns at that, we can't score, can't defend and struggle to create chances .

I go and watch football to be entertained....Watching players like Shaqiri, Arnie and Bojan (short spell) entertained me....The tripe served up by Lambert (minus Shaqiri’s goals) and again yesterday, especially the second half, doesn’t!!!
I feel privileged to have watched players like Shaqiri play for my hometown club, and refuse to join in with some of the bitter twisted fools on here....I’ll save my anger for players like Berahino, who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near Clayton Wood imo.
Fletcher?????? Why??????

Funny seeing comments saying Arnautovic didn’t have the stomach! Reckon he got bored of carrying this side by himself at times! Reason we are in this mess was because he was never replaced. Who would of you replaced him with ? I’ve really no idea too be honest. The fact remains he was replaced with utter dross.

Arnie and Shaq can go suck my balls. Shit attitude and part of the reason we're in this situation. Quite literally, 'the reason we're in this situation' is because Arnie left. We sold him to direct rival for a midtable Premier League finish for well under his real market value, and then attempted to replace him with a free agent and a loanee while spending the majority of his transfer fee on a man who ultimately became our fourth-choice central defender. Arnie scored league 11 goals, which essentially kept West Ham up. Stoke City got relegated because we scored 35 goals in 38 games. Not rocket science is it? Shaq had his best ever season in a Stoke shirt last year. You can argue that he didn't do enough consistently over his time here, and he was certainly wrong (even though he absolutely had a point) to go mouthing off about his team mates in the Swiss press. But he's not the reason we went down; he's the reason we weren't down in March. Anybody blaming Arnie and Shaq, rather than two-and-a-half years of terrible transfer policy and squad management from January 2016 onward, honestly just sounds very bitter that our best forwards have left.

Shaq and Arnie, best 2 Stoke City players of the modern era, crushed that they moved on but thrilled I got to see them play in the same Stoke City team. People will talk about it for decades just as they still do about Tony Waddington's team of the mid 70's, now, just as then, for a fleeting moment Stoke City were almost in fashion. There’s a big difference between the Waddington era and the brief period when Arni, Bojan and Shaq were at their peak. There are also several similarities. Both the teams were constructed by signing great footballers that were either past their best (e.g. Affelay, Eastham) difficult to manage (Arni, Dobing) or a combination of the two. The major difference was Waddington was a brilliant manager of people and was able to motivate his players to work together as a team. Hughes was good at bringing in good prospects that needed a second chance, but he was a very poor manager of people and could not get the players to play as team over an extended period. He didn’t push them hard in training and largely delegated the day-to-day management of the team to others, notably Mark Bowen.

Last goal in a game already won - and a game that didn't matter at that.
In other words no more important than a training ground goal other than it was televised.
It's also a game that even Strurridge managed to score in.
Wow.
And like Sturridge Shaqiri won't get much game time - because unless Klopp can change him he just hasn't got the work ethic that he demands.
For £13m to a club like Liverpool Shaqiri was a cheap option as a late impact sub or squad player for League Cup and Champions League dead rubber run outs.
I'd be very surprised if he is a)any more than that or b) still at Liverpool in 2 years time.

Mark Hughes team of the mid 10’s? Nay, I doubt it. Waddo’s Team had one critical attribute that Hughes’s did not....... they played consistently as a team rather than several brilliant individuals thrown together. At the end of the day, I guess history will show that inconsistent league form coupled with excellent cup runs will trump consistent top ten places but no cup runs to speak of every day.

I loved the ‘Macari years’ and worshipped Steino, and was thoroughly entertained!......The football under Hughes in his first 2/3 seasons was some of the best football i’ve seen in over 40 years watching Stoke and i was throughly entertained! The footy in the last few years under Pulis, Lambert’s disastrous reign and a couple of friendlies under Rowett was bloody tedious to watch, and that’s putting it mildly, so I wasn’t entertained! ☹️ Here’s a tip for you: You can still be entertained watching Stoke, you just need the right manager 😉 Let’s hope we’ve picked the right man in Rowett, but I have my reservations... But we haven’t played a competitive game yet, so it’s far too early to judge if i’m going to be entertained or not 😀
