Would have liked to see France have to chase the game. Good team, but definitely helped by the referee.

Well done to France.
People have said they've been lucky, but to be honest, they haven't really broken sweat all tournament.
Class, class side.

Well played N'zonzi - knew he would go on to bigger and better things, but didn't think it would be playing and winning in a world cup final.

The best team won the tournament, great WC, but I have sour taste in my mouth. I reminded of the Argentina victory.

Have to say, I’m in 2 minds whether this was a good World Cup, or one ruined by refs?
Can’t say which I feel atm.

Very good World Cup. England did welll. Some brilliant matches and surprise performances . The best team in the competition won it and it rattled the cages of a few francophobes on this board. Excellent all round I’d say.

Definition of deliberately = "done consciously and intentionally"... "careful and unhurried" So you are saying Perisic wanted to handle the cross from the moment it was struck? Indeed, he wanted to handle it at any point, so once he got his opportunity, that's what he did - after some conscious deliberation. And - in the biggest game of his life - he wanted France to have a penalty, just for the fun of it? If he was deliberate, he must have been motivated. What does your interesting logic assume his motivation was? (The challenge, the hell of it, because the ball feels nice to touch?) (And this was proven because he didn't protest?!... and not because either he was stunned or because he knew it would be pointless and his team mates were already protesting) Phew.... I have a suspicion you’re not quoting from the laws of the game there Happy to find an alternative dictionary!. Laws of the game just state "deliberate" - www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-12---fouls-and-misconductAnd the dictionary tells us what deliberate means The logic of saying this was deliberate - with perhaps 0.1s opportunity for thought, and where the implication of a deliberate choice is to concede a penalty in a world cup- is dumbfounding.

I don't quite understand this notion of being proud of Nzonzi.
I find it very interesting that he's gone on to win this as I knew he's a great player, but proud is a bit much for me.
It's not like he came through our youth setup or is a Stokie or anything or even played for us for that long. He's just a great player we were lucky enough to have on our books for 3 seasons isn't he?
Fair play to him though, HE should definetly be proud.

He's achieved one of the greatest feats in the game and he played more times for us than anyone else in that journey. That gives us the right to claim that a little bit of that magic rubs off onto the club. I never said I was proud, but it's another reason why Stokie's can walk a little taller today.

Unsurprisingly IFAB don’t use dictionary definitions as reference points for interpreting the laws. You’re saying it can’t be handball because a player wouldn’t commit handball. And I’m the one with dumbfounding logic

The irony is that Hughes signed players from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Porto and then a Pulis signing from Blackburn goes on to play in and win a World Cup final😂😂😂😂😂

This is where VAR breaks down mate as it’s still down to individual interpretation Not VAR's fault. Need to separate the two - VAR and referee - and judge each on its merits. There was a tough call to make and VAR offered the opportunity. It gave the panel and referee another opportunity to look and make a decision. It did its job There is no legislating though for a referee who made a call that defied all logic and reason:- that a player made a conscious and deliberate decision in about 0.1s to risk conceding a penalty and. what's more, that is beyond all reasonable doubt. For me the new system is great. Much prefer games are won and lost for football reasons and not due to officials. It revolutionised cricket for the good by stopping Indian and Pakistani umpires cheating Now the officials need to improve, because there are still inconsistencies around holding players in the box etc. Big stride forwards from using VAR for me.

Decent WC though.

It's robbery. What a shit final. VAR available, not used, VAR available, takes the twat an absolute age to decide, for me is wrong. Two goals for France that shouldn't have been. You have a completely different game then. Cheating team, incompetent officials.

Maybe I just don’t like Pogba but fuck me his ‘look at me’ jumping around in front of the team lifting the trophy annoyed the shit out of me.
I always think you can see deep into a persons psychology in situations like that... and it seems to me he’s certainly one that thinks more of himself than the team.
