Without reading through this whole thread I walked into a pub just at the end to see a Nigerian player going off holding his arm as if it was broken. Please tell me he wasn’t our man! BM Nah, it was John Obi Mikel, looked like he'd broken his wrist. Etebo had a pretty good match, was subbed at about 85m or so.

People really underplaying how good Etebo was today on here, phenomenal and one of their standout players.
Lost count of the amount of times the commentators referenced him positively in that game, we should be really excited.

How did we pick him up so cheap?
Shows there's value out there beyond spurs reserves...

I thought he looked good today, but I'd wait to judge his value after half a season with us at least...

I think the good thing so far is that we've seen him in two games. He was playing a different position in each game - at the rear point of the diamond in the first game and the front of the diamond in the second. He gave a decent performance in both games, he has a great engine on him and his passing is good and his positional play improved as each game progressed. I reckon we will come to regard buying him before the World Cup as a great bit of business - I look forward to seeing him Stoke colours next season.

I didn't see the match but it sounds like our new lad had a fine game. Appears a good signing for us but time will tell.

Quite a few African fans tweeted re: the fact he'd moved to us too soon, ie he'd have got a much better move after the WC.

However, if we get promoted at the first attempt, he will probably come to think of it as good timing as he will have got used to English conditions and the pace of the game by the time he plays in the Premier League. If he was a few years older it probably would have been a bit of a wasted move - but, given his youth, hopefully it will turn out well for both player and club.

That was fucking woeful. WTF has happened to Siggi? If he continues his amazing demise since signing with Everton we can probably sign him on a free this time next year.

I watched on the TV and listened on the radio for a while and never heard his name mentioned once. He got an underwhelming 6.3/10.0 on the fans poll on the BBC.

You truly are one miserable bastard. That puts him at 6th out of the 14 who played, one of which is a 20 year old keeper who had fuck all to do, one is Moses (every Nigerians favourite player), another is Musa of course and the other two are Ndidi and Ihaenacho who both got only marginally higher scores. Comments such as; "WHAT A SECOND HALF. ETEBO, BALOGUN AND MUSA WERE THE STARS. OUR SWEET JERSEY BROUGHT US GOOD LUCK." "deserves to play in a decent club" "Should have moved after the WC" "He is so good, damn. Great buy by Stoke." I could go on all day, defeat from victory and all that.

Seems a tidy enough player, but I’m still a little bit worried about the balance of our midfield. We still really need a DM and, crucially, some wide players with creativity...no sign of any so far.

He looks a decent player and has the attributes to be a good player in England.

Etebo (22) 45 passes 93% passing accuracy 4 Tackles 2 Dribbles 69 Touches 9 ball recoveries 4 tackles 1 interception Etebo has completed every single take-on he has attempted at the 2018 World Cup so far. • 9/9 vs. I am not a big fan of stats to judge a footballer but when they support my own confirmational bias then who am I to argue?
