A superb game. Restored my faith in the beautiful game. Or, rather, reminded me how good it can be. Yeah, I was only thinking a few minutes ago that it’s been ages since I’ve actually enjoyed a game, either Stoke or any other team, where I’ve been able to buy into the excitement and just didn’t want it to end. I’d started thinking I just hated football. This game made me realise I don’t.

What a superb game of football, Ronaldo yet again showing his world class ability. The goal by Nacho was one of the best strikes you will ever see.

Anyone else noticed he is actually looking like his statue! It reminds me of when Picaso painted Gertrude Stein. She said, “That doesn’t look like me” He said, “Give it time”

quite rightly Ronaldo is going to get the plaudits for this - a hat-trick, under pressure against rivals?? unreal
for me, spain's third goal just edges it. I don't know why, but he hit it so sweetly, and it went through the air so quickly, and the movement on the ball, wow! Thats one of the best goals i've seen at the WC's
*edit, second to third. sorry

They've both got that to their name really although in true Ronaldo style it didn't matter..... How do you work that out?? Ronaldo's been in one, got injured but they ended up winning it anyway. Messi's been in four and lost them all, (including missing in a penno shootout in one of them). Hardly having the same thing to their name... He was shit in it and they won it, which is just very Ronaldo I think.

I mean, knowing Ronaldo he would've turned up at some point.

Brilliant game of football. Pure entertainment.
Stonewall penalty too. What's all this "he dived" bollocks?

Argentina's team never seem to do that. Shocked to see Cabellero in goal for them? They must have someone better? I like him as PL second choice but you don't want him as your number 1 in a World Cup.

He’s not shit very often though is he 153 goals just from his hat tricks alone😱 Christ that’s more than some players manage in their entire careers

The 2nd and 3rd keepers play in Argentina and Mexico... It is pretty mad, Caballero has played like 20-odd games since he left Malaga four years ago

That will take some beating for game of the tournament.
We might've also seen the goal of the tournament from that free kick, exquisite.
I'm no Ronaldo fan but he was outstanding tonight. Spain starting slowly but showed a few glimpses of things to come.

I spent all game slagging the Ladyboy saying he was bone idle or past it, refering to his hogging of the centre circle unless the ball went in his general direction. Still think he is bone. However that lad can finish, what he has achieved in his career will take some beating and will surely surpass Maradona, Pele and the like as THE best in football history. Messi doesn't come close in my opinion which may upset one or two. What a game. The World Cup has officially started.

That game was better than anything we've watched in over 2 years. Amazingly that's true, given that both sides were packed full of great footballers including one of the greatest of all time Amazingly I have zero personal connections to a single player on either team, none of which play for Stoke or surprisingly England. I have no family members from either country, nor do I have a witty story to support my earlier comment complimenting the extravegant game of 11 v 11. So, for a neutral, having a football game entertain me more than a team I pay to watch, home and away, I feel the need to comment regardless of who plays for either team. (Insert attempted sarcastic emoji... here) <<<<< right there
