Peole were happy we were chasing Davies, so why not Huth? same age. Huth would be excellent cover in my eyes, get him in on a free. Davies is coming off the back of playing 40+ games in a season. Huth is coming back from a long term injury that will likely have long term effects on him. That’s the difference. He'll just shrug it off you fool!

Great gesture by the club and Rowett. Can’t see him signing or anything but love that we’re willing to help out. Plus if he does recover well and seems fit then why not give him a contract for a season simply as cover. No harm in that Lucas he was training with us 3 months before Rowett joined us.

Think this is good for both parties. Hutg gets his fitness and will be a good ambassador around the club, if he gets fit and physio see a shorter term future for him if we do not sign a centre back we have a replacement on the bench. May be work alongside soutter and sweeney

You can play friendlies without signing can't you? I seem to remember Wayne Thomas playing for us against Nantwich Town a few years back while he was training with us, although I'm possibly making that up! Anyway, if he can then got to be worth a run out if we are considering it.

Huth was being linked to Aston Villa according to their local rag recently as a possible cheap signing option to replace the anticipated departure of James Chester. They saw him as potentially being a John Terry type signing although they thought wages might of been an issue. A central defence of Huth & Chris Samba would of been an interesting proposition for the Villa fans to contemplate for the forthcoming season although not even sure Samba's signing on again for them for another season..

Huth is at the door. Scholes will answer. Let's do this Fred.

Huth for free? Jesus he alone could help the “don’t be a pussy quotient” this squad needs next season after Hughes and Lambert. I’m in and giddy if true. There’s a great bench option we should’ve never gotten rid of.

An integral part of the team that took us to and played in our only FA Cup final in over 150 years of history = LEGEND. (and I know the word is over used but not in this instance I think)

I personally think it’s class by the club and again little things like this go a long way in the game. We look after those that have helped us out. Giving the opportunity to get his fitness up could be a master stroke, if he proves fitness we offer him a short term deal. There are a lot of games coming thick and fast. And it’s another player that loves this club

I suppose Huth has more going for him in the legendary stakes ie. better rapport with supporters and imperious partnership with Shawcross (genuine all-time great). I think the FA cup team all deserve legendary status though really regardless of what happened after. It could be another 150 years before we do it again!

He’s one of my all-time favourite Stoke players, a master of the dark arts of defending.

Absolutely - how could anyone look back at that 5-0 hammering of Bolton in the semi-final and not think that all the players involved are and will always be Stoke City legends? Especially the 4 goalscorers, of which Huth was one of course, as was Kenwyne.
