Picking the next Stoke City gaffer is the most difficult decision ever faced by Coates.
If Boro fail in the play offs, Coates will try and get Pulis back.

Paul Cook ???? Great as the Sex Pistols drummer but done nothing since. The Other Paul Cook ( Wigan manager )has done very well in the depths of the Football League. As a Stoke City Manager though...I think not.

We certainly wouldn’t have been relegated this season had he been appointed in January. On what basis? The caretaker at West Brom has won as many games in four matches as TP managed in over 20. How do you explain this?

To risky. Give him a year at a higher level and lets see.. But then he might become a target for bigger clubs if he did well? I've had enough of this club standing in the shadows while others act.

We’re now in the same league as Wigan. Why would he leave a club on the up for a club in the same division on their way down?

I can't see Steve Bould hanging around Arsenal for much longer. Time for his return. Surely as No.2 at Arsenal for a fair few seasons now as earned him a shot at management. If he has been doing his groundwork he'd have an extensive network ready to attract the players we require. Ticks a few boxes for me Fresh face, no more failed old cronies Link to the club Building a new future etc

We’re now in the same league as Wigan. Why would he leave a club on the up for a club in the same division on their way down? We needn’t be on our way down if we handle things the right way. And we should be a relatively big fish, at least at first, in this division.

The big worry for me if Lambert goes (and he has to go now ) is Mick McCarthy is available.
A PC wet dream if ever there was one.
Mid Table Mick Mk 2...
Conna wait !

Big Sam Mad Mick Paul Jewell Pardew Rednapp The ex Ipswich manager who rocked up for an interview then did one having seen the state of things. Forget his name Barry Fry Lil Fuccilio
Will all be on the list, well before some young/ foreign upstart with fancy dan ideas, should the unlikely removal of Lambert happen. We're working class, simple and grateful don't you know.
Coates simply doesn't do out of box thinking. Or arguably of late, much thinking. Not his fault- he's nearing 80 and the business of footy is simply beyond him IMO.
