The Parliamentary petition in favour of allowing standing areas in the PL and Championship is now within 7k of the 100k needed to trigger a debate in Parliament, so if you agree and haven't signed, here is the link petition.parliament.uk/petitions/207040Palace as a club have called upon their fans to sign the petition, which is great, and it was the baggies application to install rail seats which led to the Minister of Sports rejection, in terms which were both illogical and ignorant. Our own club has always sat firmly on the fence on this issue, which is a shame. The Minister questioned the level of demand for standing. All the surveys show that she is wrong. There is widespread support for it, even from many of those who do not wish to stand themselves, for the very good reason that they don't want their view blocked by those who do. But even if the Minister were right, that's nothing to do with Government. The job of Government is to ensure safety, no more. If the level of demand is not sufficient, clubs won't do it. It is not being proposed that clubs be required to do it. In no other area would a Government suggest that if the demand for a service or product is not high, it should be legally banned. Such a proposition would rightly be laughed out as an absurdity.

Not signing, won't happen. Did you not sign because you dont think it will happen or you dont want it to happen? This quote reminds me of the people who say at elections that "I am not going to vote today - because 'x party' who I support won't win." A bizarre approach to democracy!

Not signing, won't happen. Did you not sign because you dont think it will happen or you dont want it to happen? He’s got this particularly odd outlook on the matter that, because he has no desire to stand at football then he doesn’t understand the need for it.

Done, but isn't the championship and lower leagues not party to all seater grounds? Clubs in the Championship have (I think) 2 years to upgrade their grounds to all seater after promotion. It will be interesting what the authorities decide will happen to Sherwsbury if/when they get promoted. They are the only club in England whth approval for Safe Standing/Rail seating (in one small section of the ground)in the lower divisions. Will they be told they have 2 seasons to take it out - or would the seats have to be used in the down (i.e. seated) position?

Not signing, won't happen. I think you will be proved wrong. Of course standing in seated areas is already happening on a large scale
