We certainly dodged a bullet when we didn't appoint him. The trouble was though that we got hit full on by the next three managers that we did appoint.

The bigger issue is that the club really wanted him and were allegedly ready to throw money at him. Look at how he's dealt with a very similar situation as to the one he would have walked into here! We don't get our appointments right and now it seems the bullets we dodge are complete naff too! Man alive!

I always thought he should have gone in the previous close season but given what's happened since and the performances of the previous half season I suspect we were already rotten.
