Totally agree with the OP. Came away disappointed but proud of the shift put in by them today. The tracking back and tackles put in have been missing for a while. Just hurts so bad that we don't have a good striker - just wish we had a Ricardo Fuller right now

The last 2 performances have been very good against 2 top teams, its not Lambert's fault that the goalkeeper made a mistake and Diouf is a totally shit striker. We were playing next seasons champions league team so i'm not sure how you can say that performance warranted a 3 today. It’s al about results and he can’t grind one out against Spurs , or Watford , or Brighton , or Everton , at home he comes over as a decent guy but his results say he is failing they are actually worse than Hughes even with three new signings . I acknowledge the ghost of Shankly and clough combined would struggle with this lot , which is why I said sacking Hughes wouldn’t make a difference positively at least m but he wasn’t right when appointed abd results show why . my greatest fear is we get the look what Newcastle did with Benitez speech , when Newcastle went down but the only things they have in common is lambert may have eaten tapas and they both get paid in sterling but One is worth less than £1m a year and the other £5m a year plus guess which . Read that back to yourself and then post a version that makes sense and has some punctuation.

7.5*
It was a joy to see 5 players descending on their box.
and we had 2 up top and went for it.
The way the team was set up toward the end of the match is how we should set up at the start.

4 We can't win matches, which is why he was brought in. Bringing on Crouch summed him, and British managers up. We can't win matches because of the shit he walked into, and not being backed with a new striker, he's doing the best he can.

8 - if we had been playing like that we wouldn't be in this mess.

9*
Probably the best we've played at home all season. Good formation and line up with some passion, only let down by 2 mistakes and a striker who only scores when the ball hits him and bounces in. If Lambert had a decent striker at his disposal we'd be safe by now.

He did everything he could today with what he's got available. He can't be responsible for players making defensive errors or strikers who can't score.
As has been said the Board let him down badly by not signing a crucially needed striker in January.
He's got the team fitter, more organised, and showing far more fight and commitment.

Solid 10 from me. So unlucky not to get a point. I can’t see what more Lambert could do with the current crop, against a very good full strength Spurs side. Badou was our man of the match for me, great signing, but I’d like to see Edwards given game time over Johnson next time.
The team deserved the standing ovation we gave them at the end. Great to see more than one Stoke player in the opposing box second half!

9 Can't see what more he can have done. My only reservation is Johnson in the team, but he must see things in training I don't. I have been proud of the effort put in by the players in the last 2 matches. We were hopelessly outclassed but never gave up and actually created more goal scoring opportunities against Spurs. Lambert has improved the side and recent performances are much better than the performances against West Ham, Newcastle, and Coventry. Events have conspired to lose matches, mainly errors by the players, and if they continue we are doomed. But if we can get through a match error free we still have a chance against less talented opposition. West Ham have 1 "expected to win" match left, against us. If we can beat them at the London Stadium, their season might turn so sour they do not get any more points, which gives us an outside chance of overtaking them. www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england&stats=12-west-ham-utd

A 6 from me. Granted we don’t have the greatest squad but we rarely look like scoring and there doesn’t appear to be any patterns to our attacking play.
Lambert has got the team working harder, or so it seems on the surface. However, if you compare his record with Hughes’ record this season then Lambert is average 0.7 points per game, while Hughes was averaging 0.9, so you could argue we’ve gone backwards. Whatever goal threat we had seems to have dissapeared, it’s been sacrificed for quite a defensive setup. I’m not impressed with him and I think he and his teams flatter to deceive.

8* from me so much better than any recent displays v Spurs , we should have scored a couple more . Great spirit and effort from all the players. Only other worry is we can't seem to stop making defensive errors but a good display against a top side .

9* from me. Very slowly (unfortunately, too slowly methinks) he's turning us around to be the side teams used to fear playing against at The Bearpit. We deserved a point yesterday and that's against a team that's cruised through us for a while now. If by some miracle he can keep us up, he'll create a side like Burnley... a team of grafters who'll learn to grind out results. If we go down I reckon he'll do the same.
And a good 9 for the fans yesterday.
OS.
