RIP. If I'm ever faced with similar news, I can only hope I'll be able to face it with even a fraction of the balls that this man clearly did. Well said. I very much doubt I would be able to, to be honest. RIP fellow Stokie.

RIP Russ, all my love and strength to everyone left behind - I am so proud to have known you, proud that you were a fellow Stokie. Just everything a Stokie should be, the very best of what we can aspire to be.
I would love to see the club commemorate Russ's work and his name in some way.

I used to work with Russ but admittedly had little to do with him except polite hellos and goodbyes. I'm hearing tonight though that he has now unfortunately lost his battle. Rest in peace Russ. A very inspiring, real life story, faced with true grit and determination. I hope to learn a fraction of what you have shown us all these last few months.

Such sad news. I didn't know him personally, but Russ seemed like one of life's good guys. Gone far too young. RIP.

Every now and then I remember why I’m proud and privelliged to say I’m a Stoke supporter.
Reading this thread has made me feel it more than ever.
It’s no consolation to those left behind but, for what it’s worth, Russ is everything that football should be and I hope his efforts resonate the way they deserve to.
RIP x

Quite a number of teams have embraced Russ’ rules and it’s a lasting legacy. I’ve had parents telling me this season that the results don’t matter as long as the kids are enjoying playing and a coach asking one of his players to apologise for a bad tackle. Thanks Russ that’s a lasting legacy we have a responsibility to ensure lasts. RIP x

Known Russ (statto) for almost 30 years and used to stand in the boothen end at the Vic with him. So many great memories of being Mark Stein on the school playground recreating the previous weekend. There wasn't much he didn't know about stoke and football in general. Will be sadly missed. Rip mate x
