God bless and love to you Russ and your loved ones. Sometimes when the world seems a bit shit, thank god that there are people like you in it that give us all hope that it can and is a nice place. Amazing bloke
As some of you may or may not know I have been diagnosed with terminal cancer and have only been given a few months to live. If you listened to Radio Stoke this morning that was me on the radio. If people can get behind what 35 Radio Stoke are trying to do it would be appreciated. If you play in a sports team or run a team or know somebody who does then please get behind the campaign that would be appreciated.
This is inspirational. A thoroughly sound legacy amidst the most trying of circumstances. I salute you and take heart from you that we should make the most of our time in this world, even when going through the most testing circumstances. Thanks for posting this.
Incredibly brave Sir, parents shouting abuse from the touchline could be eradicated in one swoop just by banning them but the FA don’t have the same courage as you ! Very inspiration what you’re doing - a wonderful act !!
Even in your extremely serious situation you've showed tremendous resolve and courage, and have dedicated some of your very precious time to think of others, and taken positive and decisive action to spread your message as far and wide as possible.
All Oatcake readers should try to make it one of their aims to pass your message to at least one young player (or ideally team) and hope that this change in attitude will spread from the grass roots upwards. I'm going to print off "Russ Rules" and give it to several kid's teams and a couple of other teams I know.
My dear old dad was sadly taken with this terrible disease 6 years ago on the 30th April, so your awful situation is a poignant reminder for me.
We should all live our lives to the full as we don't know what is in store for us.
