Its not a mess of his own making, but he's been dreadful. One good half against Huddersfield, the rest has been shocking He's made us harder to beat by pulling man behind the ball, but its hardly rocket science. He's got no clue how to win games This. I said three or four weeks ago that I thought Lambert was a poor manager at this level. His perceived solution to all our problems was to revert to a back four (plain obvious), lob three defensive midfielders into the centre of the park and get players running around. It's made us harder to beat (although the goals against collumn is building up again now) but less likely to win games as we have no attacking threat or plan going forward. Basically, Lambert's attacking master plan is that we hope Shaqiri produces some magic. There's no shape, pattern or thought behind our forward play. I don't necessarily blame Lambert for yesterday, I actually thought that we did quite well with ten men, but the team selection was awful. I dread the thought of Lambert managing us in The Championship.

Doesnt matter at this stage. If he gies at the end of the season there will be ample time to get a suitable replacement. Despite relegation we are still an attractive proposition. Needs to come with a complete reconstruction of the clubs hierarchy though. I'm a bit sceptical on your view of us being an attractive proposition. It depends totally on the level of hatchet required to the squad in the summer and how big a hatchet is provided. I agree totally on the second part. Restructuring is very much needed upstairs. I worry about Coates's comments when appointing Lambert, specifically about how much he rates him and has done for a while. I think he'll be here for the duration of his contract at least.

I predict a dreadful, slow grind, to deliver a meaningless 8th position next season. The only saving grace is that we will play some decent British clubs, not infested by high numbers of here-today-gone-tomorrow, mercenary players. I just pray we can get rid of the parasites - including the behind the scenes incompetents - as quick as possible. We need a real drains-up clear out.

They can't honestly have thought Lambert was the answer, can they? It's deeply disturbing that the brains trust at the club could have arrived there - it seems merely because he asked for the job. This was a guy who couldn't get the f*****g Hull job 3 weeks earlier.
I wish we had a recording of this bit of his interview:
“Paul greatly impressed us with his knowledge of our squad and had a clear plan of how he would improve our results"
If he was the answer, you have to wonder what the question was.

The lack of funds given to Lambert in the transfer window suggest as much. Either that or Lambert was way over confident in his ability to manage and get the ‘best’ out of the players already at the club. Which was a big mistake in hindsight.

Looks to me like the old army volunteer gag. The whole rank bar one simultaneously take one step back and you have your volunteer. The 3 Captains all stepped back leaving the Private Lambert front and centre.

I think John Percy or Spinks said at the time the club was embarrassed after being turned down by two other managers and couldn't face being turned down for a third time. So yes, he was literally given the job because they knew he wouldn't say no. What struck me at the time was that the embarrassment of being turned down only lasts as long as it takes to appoint the right manager. These idiots were so shortsighted they didn't realise that panicking and giving the job to the wrong man, for the wrong reason, on a two-and-a-half year contract, means they will be embarrassed much more deeply and for a much longer time. Feeble, naive and yes embarrassing decision-making.

Time for his UB40 he should be a one in ten, our joke board gave him the chance to prove himself once more at this level he has failed miserably but we knew he would, from a Welsh clown to a Scottish clown a clown is still a clown employed by clowns it's like a very unfunny circus.

With Hughes we would have gone down getting spanked every week and with no effort.
At least he has got them playing for him and made us more solid defensively.
The single biggest factor that has cost us since Lambert took over is Charlie Adam. He has cost us 5 points by himself.
Add to that the fact that everyone has said we simply do not have the quality up front, a fact that has nothing to do with Lambert.
I agree it was a poor appointment and we should evaluate our options in the summer, but the shit we are in right now actually has relatively little to do with our current manager.
