In pic 3 Stoke have blacks shorts on which suggests we're the away team. The 2 defenders look very much like Yorath and Madeley, the 2 Stoke players are the one, the only, the great Jimmy Greenhoff together with Geoff Salmons. The Stoke End redevelopment was in 79, Jimmy and Salmons had already left by then.

My first ever view of Stoke's ground and got crushed going in. Our problems all started when we got rid of the mountain that was the Stoke End.

It's the evening game when Reaney broke Sheldon's leg which will date it to which season.

Remember picking up tickets from that tiny office when it was FA Cup with Man U in town? The queue was huge

He's the same keeper as in photo 44 and looking at those Stoke players it looks like a reserve match. I recognise Dave Goodwin, but not the other two Stoke players.

Who's the keeper in pic 40, Dave? the Stoke goalie is Mike McDonald in 42, not sure about 40 though? he was brought in after Banks' accident as understudy for John Farmer Played 5 first team games I believe.

That was 1976/77 wasn't it? Don't think it's that game as the stand under development in that photo was finished by then. Who's the keeper in pic 40, Dave? Found him. Looking at the photos again, it's from the 1972/73 season (we had a red collar and cuffs that season). The crowd looks too big to be a Central League game (and I don't remember fans being allowed into the Butler Street for reserve matches), so I searched for FA Youth Cup games that season. The game in question is undoubtedly the 4th Round tie v Chelsea (which we lost 5-0!) and the 'keeper is Derek Richardson. Incidentally, Ray Wilkins played for Chelsea in that game. A further search for Derek Richardson astonishingly brought up this story.... www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-3995604/Second-Chelsea-player-alleges-abuse-rife-Eddie-Heath-club-sexually-harassed-boys-knew-finished-spoke-out.html
