Absolutely awful player. Too busy waving at his wife for the most part. Pieters had a decent game today. He actually is a proper footballer unlike some in our team. Diouf on the other hand .....

How is it possible to deliver so many bad crosses in a season!!!??? I really can't understand that this is possible, but he keeps lifting them in without ever hitting a player in a Stoke kit, remarkable!Could go down in the record books as the worst crosser of the ball ever to have played at top level!

If...or indeed when we go down Pieters will be way way down the list of individuals who are culpable.

I don’t disagree mate entirely, he was poor. But I think today we need look at the bigger picture. The lot of them were abysmal. Nobody was more frustrated thsn me at pieters at times but our movement was non existent Oh yes we were abysmal mate I agree with that but the manager thought we played well again🙄 Comments like that insult the intelligence of the spectators, and alienate the manager from the fans.We quite obviously didn't play well, and if we had won, it would have been a travesty imo.

I thought he was about our best player today. It's not him that kills the momentum, there's zero movement. Absolutely bang on Bayern...absolutely bang fuckin on!!!

I’d love to know his thinking over starting fletcher aswell And why waste a space on the bench selecting the woeful Johnson. He seems already to have his favourites.

I thought he was about our best player today. It's not him that kills the momentum, there's zero movement. Cannot agree with any of this. Nine times out of ten Erik's first touch is backwards/negative. His bodyshape is obvious that he wants to turn back when he is receiving the ball. He continually looks like a deer in headlights every time he has the ball. He does continually kill momentum. Today he wasn't terrible though, had an okay game. How can people slate Zouma today? He won everything, made some great passes and looked like the player we thought we had got on loan!

He has the crossing ability of Oscar Pistorious.
At least Oscar can shoot.

A proper footballer? He can’t pass, control or cross the ball. He can defend and doesn’t lack effort but his basic footballing skills are atrocious.

Pieters is good enough player for a mid-table Premier team. He has already proven it.

Choupo was the reason Pieters never had a decent forward ball on.

I love Erik but technically speaking, he has a total inability to receive the ball on his back foot which then enables your first movement to be forward.
He was, however, one of our better players today.

We have a settled back line and I think it would be foolish to start tinkering with it.
The problem is in front of the back line. Eric needs someone to pass to, for starters.
For me Fletcher, Berahino, and latterly Choupo don't deserve to be in the starting XI. I'd only keep Diouf because we don't have anyone better. Allen, Badou, and Shaq deserve their places.

I agree that Pieter's is a decent player in his own half but the modern full back needs to be decent in both halves of the field I'm afraid.

Did we sign stafylidis until the end of the season ? Can't see how he's going to get a game unless Erik gets injured

How the fuck anyone can even say pieters had a "decent game" i don't know. Him and "captain fantastic" were shocking today, followed by fletch with his parachute on. Shawcross on the goal was embarrassing and he did the exact same thing the first few mins when butland saved us. Him and pieters were like schoolboys today. absolute laughable how anyone can think he had a good game, jesus.

Pieters was poor for much of this season, but he's been one of our best performers under Lambert. I just wish he would leave the crossing to someone else. It's probably no coincidence that his defensive form has improved dramatically since Wimmer hasn't been around to drag him out of position.

Pieters has probably been our most consistent player under Lambert, and doesn’t deserve too much criticism or to be dropped. But I’m wondering whether the pace, attacking ability and set-piece taking of Stafylidis might just be our last throw of the dice. If he can get up the pitch quicker and put a decent cross in, then we might just reap a reward.
It might sound a bit desperate to pin our hopes on a second string on loan full back that we know little about, but that’s just about where we’re at now I reckon.
