Wigan haven't exactly been big-spenders have they? At least not in the context of the Premier League.

'We have 5 or 6 players currently who could definately cut it in the top flight, and if we can build a stronger squad around them, we can achieve alot this season.'
"definately"??? ??? ???
Can someone tell me who they are??

It's a bold assertion I agree, but Shawcross, Whelan, Lawrence and Fuller would probably be good enough to start, with Simo, Delap, Cort, Diao and Pugh all being useful members of the squad.

I can see us spending less than 10 m. There should be a £1m a game win bonus though, that will get them shifting!

sunderland payed 6 million for jones and 5 million for chopra.its not about how much you spend its about how good the players you buy are.and pulis could find a player twice as good as chopra for less than 5 million.

I think Hansen was working on the assumption that Sunderland spent £40 million and got 39 points,so to stay up you need to spend £1 million per point.

You see some of the idiocity on here sometimes. I know everyone has an opinions but sometimes they are absolute BS ;D Spend 40M or we won't stay up? Some of you speak absolute bollocks. Reading spent 8m on new players and finished in the top half. It can be done. True we need to spend at least 15-20m but not 40 on over inflated players. 40m is the sign of panic buying and could put us in a Leeds situation if we go down. Some of you need to think of the future. And titanic. Why the hell would you even contemplate selling wilko? You suggest oyu would keep dicko then? Wilko is a clone of Dicko in terms of passion but imo has alot more experince and ability then Dickinson and can play RB or CB. A good year on the bench of a prem team learning the prem way and he can be a good player. He is miles better then some of the crap you seem to want to keep like griffin So by the sounds of it we sell our best young and best squad players and spend 40m? God help us if you ever became our manager some of you

Reading did have a decent squad and Sunderland blew £20m on 3 players, £9m or so on a goalkeeper alone and £6m on Kenwyne who to be honest has improved massively since he was at Stoke.
If you spend wisely on players who will strengthen the squad, add expereince and stay free of injuries and stay up then whether its £5m £10m or £15m then it would be money spent wisely.
Its not just transfer and agents fees its slaries and bonus's as well that need to be factored in. I hope contracts can be negotiated that are incentivised ie £10/£15k basic with appearances, goals, finishing position all factored in to the total package.

To do what?
To win the league and Champions League about 300 million to be on the safe side!
To stay up I think TP will require about £175 he just needs to sign Mark Crossley and Ade on loan worked before!
But to be on the safe side I think 20-25 million will be enough for Tony to compete in the lower half.

realistically - I say we'll have about 10-12 million. Personally I think Keane was shit in the transfer market, 9m on a keeper, ok if your Man U or Chelsea, bad decision if you know your gonna be scrapping it out down the bottom, 7m for K Jones, hmm good striker, but a bit pricey in my opinion, not a proven goalscorer! Higgy look a good buy at 2.5m, however not quite cut it has he? Think Pulis will have a liittle more experience and sence with his dabbling in the market!

You need 8-9 new starting players to (on paper) challenge for saying up. But we all know that it doesnt work like that.
