Just heard. I have 4 or 5 Stoke originals by Sid. Unfortunately, they are stuck in Stoke at the moment as I have not got round to sending them out to Bangkok. I love his social history stuff. Great ambassasdor for the city.

RIP Sid, wonderful, wonderful artist.
I have always found myself just staring at his work. Looking, making the story up in my head of all the wonderful people from that wonderful era. Even though I am too young for that time I get lost in the nostalgia, innocence and beauty that he portrays in each piece.
A picture that holds you, the way his does with me, is what art is all about. Each picture tells a thousand stories, and not necessarily those of the artist. Just fabulous.
Sad news indeed. I heard that he was ill recently but even so, I wasn't expecting this. The message displayed in his paintings were not only beautiful, they also showed memories of a lost era that was precious to many of us. Some were melancholy and others were pure fun.
