I had an absolutely fantastic chicken vindaloo from Waitrose before Xmas, one of the best curries I've ever had and definitely the best supermarket bought one I've had.
I'm pissed off I have no cause to go near a Waitrose anymore, nearest one is Uttoxeter ffs.

Had to Google that. More lethal than weapons grade pepper spray!!. Sod that. One quote from a brave exponent, "it took me 3 seconds to eat and 14 hours to recover".

And your still here to tell the tale We brought a load at work last year and challenged each over eat one at dinner. Boss went mad I was ok after 20 minutes Iād had one before so knew what to expect, the others were virgins. Two went down like a sack of shit and spat out straight away, one threw up, one went extremely faint and couldnāt work for the rest of the day, two recovered after an cpl of hours and the last one stripped to his pants threw up and lay on a tiled floor for two hours crying till someone gave him a lift home. The boss was none too happy especially as it was my idea and Iām the health and safety officer. I gave the remaining chilis to my mums fella who sparingly puts them in his homemade curry. He did for a laugh put a full one in my mums delivered kebab to see what her reaction was. It invoked a lot of swearing and almost a separation to save himself he told her it was my idea and he didnāt know how hot they were. One text message later I had to shoulder all the blame to salvage a relationship.

Very glad to see this thread re-surface to save me having to search for it! It's perfect timing because two days ago I found out about Chilli Wizards and thought I'd post their details as I know we've got some chilli fans on the MB. Their www features Carolina Reaper and all the other vicious ones, and they've got them in sauces & pickles and a wide range of options. Enjoy! Chilli Wizards www.chilliwizards.co.uk/

Cheers We used to go to the Koh-I-Noor in Newcastle quite often but have somehow got out of the habit - however if we did want to go out that's where we'd choose because they were always so good in every way - in fact they're still excellent because they have a takeaway service which we use these days. About 20 years ago their Chicken Biryani (my favourite Indian meal) was absolutely sublime - literally every scrap of it was so delicious it was HEAVENLY and everything in it was always exactly the same every time you ordered it. Then they obviously changed their chef and whilst the Chicken Biryani was still very good it didn't make you want to literally go into raptures with every bite as the original one had done. So my vote goes to the Koh-I-Noor.

So my vote goes to the Koh-I-Noor. Right, then - can we talk about Indian food again? We don't seem to have had this subject for quite a while... Despite lockdown, at least takeaway food is still available, thank goodness. I really miss getting a decent Chicken Biryani, so if anyone knows a local place doing a good one can they please post details? We've given up on the Koh-I-Noor now because the last Biryani we had from there about 12 months ago was horrible - (ditto with one from the Crown of Stone) - I literally couldn't eat it, which is an awful shame because the ones they used to do all those years ago were absolutely divine. Looked for a new place to try by G'g 'Curry Houses in SoT' last night & came across one called 'Basmati' in Brunswick Street, Newcastle which has a nice www and good customer feedback on T/A, so we tried a takeaway from them & whilst the meal wasn't out-of-this-world fantastic it also wasn't bad at all. Ordering & collection was also a totally trouble-free exercise. So can we please have a few updates re. Oatie members' favourite Indian restaurants / takeaway places & their recommended meals? Especially a decent Chicken Biryani if poss! Thanks. Would also be interested to hear if Rondog - rondogmcmuffin -, who started this thread, has had any more culinary adventures lately, as the accounts he gave us on 'ere of his earlier ones were highly entertaining.

My favourite one in my town, bombayquaynorthwich.co.uk/sits next door to this little pub thesalthousenw.co.uk/ where Alan Mcinally sometimes drinks, they are both next door to the newish Waitrose on the river front. I like the Murgh's or a Naga Chicken Customer feedback was good and they went to the national finals www.northwichguardian.co.uk/news/16596889.bombay-quay-restaurant-shortlisted-national-food-award/
