Still no sign of the fella, anyone heard anything?? He's probably taking a well earned rest, I've heard of people leaving here for a couple of years before returning
I like to think of him out there campaigning tirelessly to get the name of Halmer End changed back to Halmerend

Couple of general questions: When we register to be a member of the Oatie MB, do our home email/mobile # details show up internally on our MB registration 'records'?
I've always assumed that they did, and in fact I'd expect to have to provide them to the MB on the basis that everything was then kept strictly confidential….. or do we stay completely anonymous when we register? Doesn't the MB have details of our name, address & email/ mobile #???
I'm asking about this because I was wondering if, say, the Mods would ever privately contact a member - ie. off the MB/other than by PM - if they hadn't posted in a while and there was an actual post/posts genuinely asking about them - just so we could find out they're okay, etc?
The regular posters all know each other quite well through the MB and usually liaise on a daily-ish, or at least every few days, basis, so it's only natural to wonder what's happening and be concerned when a member seems to have vanished. If they're no longer looking in on the MB they wouldn't see any posts or PMs sent to them & might like a private email telling them that folks were concerned about them.
Any advice on the set-up, please, folks?

I can't think of anything worse than being contacted by the Mods under the circumstances.
If anything sinister had happened then presumably some relative would likely post on here to let everyone know I know that my son would be on here doing likewise and letting everyone know the details of the party

Yes, I totally see your point, Fel, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at and it must be quite nice to know that people are genuinely concerned about you and are missing you. (Mind you, there's ' missing them' and ' gone but not missing them at all / bluddy good riddance', isn't there?! Mentioning no names!!!) Skanksy was a great poster - I remember, some time ago, he & Cheesy & I got into a three-way chat on 'ere one evening when Cheesy was at a pub quiz and two or three times, if he didn't know the answer, he posted the question and Skansky & I happened to notice them and posted the answers back sharpish….. I remember at least one was an anagram. It was great fun. I'll have a look for it in a bit.

Found it! It was last year, on the Sweet & Fluffy thread, and started on page 15 with Cheesy's post on Mar 1st 2017 at 9:14 pm, and there's a string of quite a few posts linked in to it following on over a couple of pages or so. This was what Cheesy asked first: "Quiz night crucial question. Don't want to google but not against cheating..
Who makes the cuckoo call the male or the female. Help."Here you are - It was great fun! Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/256507/sweet-fluffy-thread?page=15#ixzz5arjUIlaj

Going something like THIS:
"…………. (boo hoo, snivel, snivel) …….…. on one of his trademark runs round the magnificent Staffordshire hills…….. (boo hoo, snivel, snivel)……. taken out by a German Shepherd let off his leash………… (boo hoo, snivel, snivel)……. the woman's uncontrollable laughter, punching the air and yelling 'yessssss!' will stay in my memory for ever. See you all 6.30pm. Bring a bottle. Or, if poss, two."

He was last online on July 6 2017, nearly 18 months, maybe he'd had enough of Mark Hughes and all that's Stoke by then.

An accident happened to my good pal Jim When somebody threw a meat pie at him Meat pies are squishy and don't hurt the skin But this one did 'cos it was still in the tin.

I'm bored so I had a go at this - I know I won't give up the day job !
It's alright moaning about who threw the meat pie but it damned well hurts if it lands in your eye as well as the crust there's also the gravy and before too long your bruise turns navy
Many have tried but none have succeeded to find out exactly just what was needed to get Stoke City climbing the table they needed a manager who really was able
But once again the Board had got the wrong man as Gary Rowett just didn't have a plan he talked a good game but after that he lacked especially when the fans started singing "You're getting sacked" !
Peter Coates just sat with his head in his hands and Tony Scholes hid at the back of the stands Carto was there but had arrived too late to get any pizza from the hospitality plate
The crowd were incensed and started to shout "Rowett, Rowett, we all want you out" ! So he just sat in the dug out with all of his staff And wished he could go home and look back and laugh
The end when it came was not very nice As the fans bombarded him with boiled rice He scraped it all up in quite a hurry As he thought he could use it at home in a curry

He was last online on July 6 2017, nearly 18 months, maybe he'd had enough of Mark Hughes and all that's Stoke by then. it's a long absence, he was like me in that he was far more active on the EE board. I also got the distinct impression that he was well past retirement age so it does make you fear the worst when there's been so many music, food, and beer threads that he would have been all over.
