Not a huge fan, but with the Ausi Open on in all the bars here I have been giving it a quick glance.
I suppose in this era we are quite lucky to have 2 dominant players in Federer and Nadal.
Who is the best... I'd say Federer for now, but Nadal is 5 years younger, so could easily go on to win more.
As for the rest, IE Murray and Djockovic, good, but no where near these two.
Best of all time...That's always a tough call. as players are 100 times more athletic these days, and the equipment has improves somewhat, but of previous greats I'd say Pete Sampras would be the only one to come close to these two.

I don't like Djokovic but you have to put him in the same category as Rafa. Sampras? He was a weapon on grass but not on all surfaces, I'd suggest if he was around at the same time Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic were all that their peak he'd be 5th in line.

In general, I think it's almost impossible to compare tennis players from different era's as the game has changed so much over the years. From equipment, different surfaces, different speeds of the surfaces which has then caused new styles of play.. its difficult.
For example with Sampras, there's no way he could play serve and volley tennis on the courts of today BUT he was obviously supremely talented so you would've thought he we would've adapted his style.
The biggest change though now is just how good the players are defensively and in terms of fitness compared to players of the past. Djokovic and Murray have stayed at the top of the game for so long due to their durability and fitness more than anything, rather than their ability. Unfortunately for them 2 though, it seems to have caught up with them now.
In terms of talent, I'd chuck Wawrinka and Del Potro in there from the current era also. Injuries and fitness have been Del Potro's downfall but Wawrinka has won the same amount of grand slams as Murray which is an amazing achievement.

Federer is really good to watch when he's on song. He's like one of the three musketeers with his play sometimes. Rafa is great too. Can't take to Djokovic, although he has a tremendous record. Murray has done marvellous to win against these people, but I think injury has now taken it's toll.

There's no debate here for me. The greatest of all time is Federer. No one can touch him when he's on song, even today.

Conners deserves a mention had great reserves of energy. I always liked a net player so Nastase and Andre Agassi were good to watch.
Has to be Federer though at the top with Djokovic and Lendl old itchy bum Rafa probably next.
Just a word for the girls I never expected Tracey Austin to turn into a Hotty

Just a word for the girls I never expected Tracey Austin to turn into a Hotty My mum used to love watching Nastase for his graceful play and Evonne Cawley (nee Goolagong) for the same reason Vitas Gerulaitis facsinated me at the time, simply because his name sounded like a disease. Roscoe Tanner had an immense serve in those days, and yes, I never would have predicted Tracy Austin getting fit. I was a huge Borg fan as a kid, so I was gutted when Mcenroe stopped him getting his fifth Wimbledon title.

I only played as a hobby with my step dad but it was Wilson wood racquets then with the emphasis on serve and volley. I did play on grass though at Stone , found it hard for direction changes probably down to poor trainers. My serve was crap too, I could only hit one spot if I tried anything else I double faulted. Connors lost to Arthur Ashe in an epic final then 1975. Ahhhh someone please turn the clock back...

I kept checking that your post wasn’t about 10 years old. I haven’t kept up with much tennis for about a year but I thought Federer and Nadal were shadows of their former selves, Federer turns it on once a year at Wimbledon but should be playing with the pensioners and Nadal gets knocked out of every tournament in the first round by a nobody. Djokovic is invincible and Murray was shit whenever I watched him but apparently brilliant. But I’ve just had a glance at the rankings, Federer and Nadal are top two, Djokovic is nowhere and Murray is nobody. What happened?!

Federer won Australian and Wimbledon in 2017, Nadal won Roland Garros and US. I didn’t think either were still capable (Federer especially at his age, Nadal always capable on clay) but it was a marvellous achievement for both. Federer especially who surely moved out clear alone as the GOAT.

Federer by a fair distance, to win all he has won is incredible, but his longevity is also astonishing. Let's not forget, Borg retired at 26 and he's probably the only one who could potentially be compared to Roger. He only played in Australia once too.

In my younger days, I worked for a charge hand who had a thing about Francoise Durr's breasts. Whenever Wimbledon came around, he always got on about her!

I think Agassi and Sampras would have dominated Nadal and Federer if they were around at the same time. Agassi was a fantastic baseline player.

Murray and Djokovic discuss the greatest ever here, in an article where when discussing the best backhand, Murray actually says to Djokovic:
AM: Backhand, I'm taking you...
ND: I would take you. Consistency, the fact that you don't miss much, you make the life of your opponent very difficult. I just couldn't penetrate through that side when I played against you...
AM: I think you penetrated me pretty well a few times. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/52333379
