Doesn't matter if we are/were interested, can't compete with Everton.

Doesn't he see himself as more of a striker than a winger? For that reason I doubt he'd take such a backward step to us unless we guaranteed him a striker's spot... which if we're sticking with 1 up top, he's not the man.

Him and Berahino would be a good force as Berahino would work with someone with pace I think.

Would not have him here he's only good when surrounded by good players and even then he's not great

True.
He has form and didn't come all those years ago when he was VT's rock the city loan.
But if it wasn't for that and the fact that he would represent the next three windows' transfer pots combined splashed in one go, then "yes".

I'd love Walcott here but I bet his wages are sky-high. He always seems to do well when he gets a run in the team. Arsenal's record with promising young players isn't great is it? I would have expected Walcott to be a nailed-on England regular by now.
He'd probably choose Everton over us.

If we guaranteed him a place as a striker maybe we’d have a chance. He’s always said over the years he’s seen himself as a striker not a winger. Definitely would sort the counter attack problem. It’s too late now anyway looks Everton bound

If one things positive about the appointment of Paul Lambert it's the fact that any delusions of grandeur about signing players like Walcott can be quickly dispelled

I once heard a story that when he was 16 and Sven took him to the world cup or Euros whichever it was, he trained with the team and was given the job to run up the wing and put a ball on Crouches head, he couldn't manage it then, what chance now?

Were Everton ever seriously in for Shaqiri?
Wasn't it just a rumour?

Absolutely no way. He'll be found out playing amongst lesser players.

Were Everton ever seriously in for Shaqiri? Wasn't it just a rumour? Probably a rumour (although Everton didn’t have much cash at the time so he might have got more here) and I certainly don’t think we were beating off competition from many other parties either.

Certainly got the pace we need, but his lack of footballing skill wouldn't work in a workman like Stoke side.

Absolutely no way. He'll be found out playing amongst lesser players. All players play better when surrounded by other good players. He’d be great up front (what we have right now isn’t up to the job). However, the priority is finding the players (either inside the club or new players) that can create chances for the strikers. We have too many players that see their job is to do by themselves.
