I nearly dropped a white whale on the guy in front of me though when the Bojan song came out. Cannot wait to see the Spanish maestro dropping 40 yards loads across the 365 again |

Sorry to post a bit of a geeky thread, but far more analytical minds than mine will be able to give you there 'tuppence h'apenny on events earlier. one of the wonders of the age we live in is the ability to find out the score of that match you remember like it was yesterday. I can't even remember results from last May. I see 'youtube' clips of 'Huddy' on pitches that looked like the 'Somme' and pics of him leaving German defenders for dead, in the only match Don Howe ever picked him for. I saw the news about Cyrille Regis, passing away (far too soon) especially when he's only three years older than yourself, and try and remember that incredible match he scored a brace in...two days after my 18th birthday, guess what Crooksy scored a hattrick...I'd forgotten that!! So for all your Imbula, Berahinos and Wimmer's who as one guy says might be the 'cluster fuck' that proves the undoing of our beloved club, I say cheers lad's, 'thanks for the memories'....hic 'blue Monday, you say?? Yeah you might be right!!

Manchester to Stoke still isn't very far when you're being driven home in the peak of motoring comfort. And you don't have to wear noise cancelling headphones. If I had their money I'd buy a magic carpet. |

I remember when Alan Durban first came to Stoke he came up to the VI Form college at Fenton Manor to visit the Sports Department. It was announced that he was happy to give a q and a after the visit to any students who had an interest in all matters SCFC! Needless to say the tiny classroom the nincompoops in charge booked was packed. Durban's era had started off reasonably well but had rapidly gone downhill after a couple of results. As I recall ( now dunner shoot me cuz me mind anna what it used to be) it was a kid here that bemoaned our lack of attacking flair, which riled Durban a bit and provoked a reply that if you wanted 'engertaiment, you should visit the Circus'...I remember distinctly one thing though, sitting next to Sandra Crooks (Garth's sister) and joking with her to 'ask Durban why he weren't playing him in the right position! She definitely didn't want Durban to know who she was. It was only a couple of weeks after that Crooks scored the hattrick that I referred to. Funnily enough it wasn't that I remembered today, it was the two Cyrille Regis scored!! He was as many have an absolute 'beast' of a striker. I saw Nick Owen on Midlands today give a very heartfelt eulogy to him this evening ending...a beast in front of goal but a very, very nice guy. If only we could find the likes of him and tbf Crooks who whenever I met him, (which wasn't much, I admit) seemed quite approachable.

I think with the 'Coates"s it's more a question of security tbf. I often used to see Denise taking a constitutional around the 'shop'on Fezzy park flanked by security and a couple of trailing Audi's that would put Donald J's secret service to shame. I've often thought that a kidnapping of someone of whom much of their wealth could be transferred at the click of a mouse must be incredibly daunting to protect against. The geezer who used to own Alton Towers, John Broome used to say the main use for the Helo,there was securely getting all the cash out of the park without the need for transporting down the back roads around Alton, Tean and Cheadle. |
