Best challenge to Man U at OT since we’ve been in the premiership. I’d take more of that fight to keep us up. Shaq made up for that shocker against barcodes for me 👍

What about the year we lost 3-2 after leading?

First half was a lot better but same old failings and we were non existent second half until the Diouf chance .
Should have scored and mistakes in the build up to all of their goals
It's these details Lambert has to work on plus fitness levels .
Bauer looks a good addition .

Have to agree. It was encouraging and I think we will stay up. Lambert must be optimistic about what he's seen and I'm proud of how they performed tonight.

Very positive attitude by the players tonight. Unfortunately there were still the defensive errors and missed scoring opportunities.
Bauer looked excellent to me. He got could napping a couple of times and needs to shows more respect to world class opposition, but he is fast and willing runner and good with the ball. A class above Tymon. Suddenly we have competition for the RB slot.
Excellent first game back by Ireland and a great pity he couldn't put away his chances. I hope Lambert doesn't bear grudges and let's him show what he can do.

Considering we had the previous 3rd in command preparing us for the game we didn’t do too badly did we? A little bit of luck our way in the first half and we could have given them something to worry about, but wasn’t meant to be sadly.
At the end of the day, it’s all about the next month or so as to whether we made the right decision or not. But I’ve got to say the players looked a lot better than previous weeks; they were certainly determined to avoid another true thrashing. A little concerned about the lack of stamina being apparent in the 2nd half, but all in all there certainly looks to be a team willing to fight to stay up.

A couple of good chances made but it was easy for United ..second half shit goalie could have stayed in dressing room and nobody would have missed him ......on to next game we must score first

Encouraging and insightful for the new manager.
It showed him we can create chances.
The first goal showed him that we left a kid stranded by Choppo - Motting going AWOL in the centre of the field rather than hanging up on Valencia.
We picked a kid at left fullback and then hooked him when he made mistakes. Twice Hughes did this Edwards this season and Eddie decided well Josh it’s your turn to hung out to dry.
If I were Lambert my take away would be:
Get them organised when we lose the ball.
Go get me a left back like Bauer.
I won’t pick kids when they are not ready.
If I do those 3 things until I see more of them then I have seen enough to say I can keep this lot up.
I dare say it if TP or Big Sam we’re in Lambert’s shoes the first thing they would do is to stop leaking goals and last night showed what has been happening for 18 months.
No likesvlosing but the players put a shift in last and that’s all you can ask for.

What about the year we lost 3-2 after leading? Agreed, did ok, especially the first half but we played better in the 3-2 defeat. Great Arnie free kick I seem to recall

We were unlucky to be 2-0 down at half time - we should have scored and their second goal was a sucker punch. Second half we weren't in the game and could have shipped 2 or 3 more goals.
Tymon was rightly hooked - he really looked out of his depth, Bauer made a couple of mistakes but looked quick and tidy. Ireland had a decent first half but tired. The problems are pretty obvious - porous defence, little defensive cover from midfield and a lack of cutting edge up front. However there is some quality their that most of our relegation rivals don't have. If we can get the basics right we have that little bit of quality that might make the difference,
And the fans were magnificent the whole game - the twelfth man isn't a problem.

Theres definitely promise there. Much better performance last night. Two worldies from United killed the game but I won't fully blame Tymon for that, he's still young and raw. He needs a loan out somewhere.
I feel a little better today after watching that last night. There seems to be fight in them which is encouraging.
If Lambert can sort that defence and stop the silly mistakes it would be a great start. Getting them fit must also be a priority.
With a few decent signings I have hope that we will stay up.

But Hughes after match interview would have taken care of talking about the positives while being totally responsible for the colossal amount of money not even in the squad and the glaring deficiencies at both ends of the pitch.
