We stand to lose 150m + if relegated - why could we not just bite the bullet and accomodate the request and a player one of whom MUST be better than what weve got at the moment.....

So manager wants to bring own players to Stoke shock. No chance when we have our own crack team setting the premiership alight....

Can understand why we weren't so keen if this proves to be correct Yes, we could not have risked taking that kind of financial baggage in to the Championship, as things stand we will already not be able to unload Imbula, Berahino and Wimmer, it could have more or less sunk us financially for decades. I'm really glad this one didn't happen, I didn't give him much chance of keeping us up anyway, he seemed half-arsed about it all as things were, put that together with some disorganised and/or disinterested players and I didn't have a good feeling about any of this one.

The owners have plenty to cover it! Yeah perhaps, it just seemed to me like it was going to take his wife 3 months to decide if there was anywhere vaguely inhabitable in the UK outside of London and at least an hour from Stoke by which time he would have been holed out with little more than his hand luggage in the Premier Inn and we would have been more or less relegated. He may have been okay for the rebuild, but the immediate task in hand I didn't sense he was really up for. But what do I know!?

Just an interesting take on the whole debacle.
I have no idea if these players are good enough or what we need to be honest.
That Baptistoa has scored 9 goals in 38 games!

If espanyol wanted that, we should of said no. Payed the 4M euros for his contract and got him.
We should not be held to random to buy players we know nothing about, besides, they cant of been that good if espanyol wanted them out anyway

So basically there’s no money for the new manager. Only money for Scholes and Cartwright to piss up the wall.

Anyone considered that, actually, the club made the decision not to pursue because it sounds dodgy as fuck?
It wasn't that long ago some managers were getting kick backs for signing certain players from certain agents. Maybe the Coates family, and Scholes, found the scenario they were in somewhat uncomfortable and decided not to pursue it.
I'm not saying Flores is taking back handers, but questions need to be asked about why he's demanding the signing of certain players before he's sharpened his transfer list pencil at Stoke or else he won't join. There's a huge difference between saying "sign them or I won't join", and providing a list of players he believes would improve the club's situation.
