So he's being criticised for saying the players haven't been good enough and need to pull their fingers from up their arse?
Fuck me. He's bastard right isn't he?
And if he'd have said "no problem, we will be fine" he would've been slated.
Jesus wept.

Does mentally weak include trying to make ridiculous passes in you own half directly leading to goals against?
Stoke City footballers should stay out of the media until they turn the season around. Their words are totally empty.

If he kept it simple there wouldn't have been a sniff of a goal. Sure our defending is wank - perhaps if Adam was mentally stronger he would know this and not try the fancy dan pathetic attempt at a pass and leaving our defenders exposed. He, like all of the useless feckers, should give it a rest.

I think he's saying morale is low. But of course predictably some people will just see this thread as a excuse to have a pop at him. At least he cares. The reason we are in this mess is the team set up and the defence being totally wide open and exposed from wide areas. You'd think with the injuries we have had it would have been No 1 priority to sort it out instead of continuing to play a centre forward at wing back. Pathetic management and coaching is to blame.

I have no animosity toward Charlie Adam, but I’m also not convinced that a 32 year old bloke that has yet to learn how to control his temperament on a football pitch should be publically judging his peers mental states.

Remember the old DNA stuff ? It really is quite important and Charlie clearly saw that it was slowly but surely dissipating at SCFC.

I don't think it is a great thing to say publicly, even if there is truth in it. How can saying that be conducive to trying to build some morale.

One of the few things fans can do to influence a game is boost the confidence of their own players (difficult when they are playing badly ... but screaming 'why the f-ing hell did you do that?' never helps). But the bear pit atmosphere used to work because it broke the mental resilience of teams like Arsenal.
Perhaps we all need to find some spine (I know its easy for me to say from my sofa rather than the ground).

Yes indeed. You can't be a multi-millionaire Premier League footballer and a stone+ over weight without being mentally weak.

Mental ability as a footballer is often underrated. Adam is a 'streetwise' player who is rapidly becoming a relic of a bygone age. If you can't do the 100m in approx 10 seconds then there isn't a place for you in the top league nowadays. If Jan Molby / Matt Le Tissier turned up today they'd be quickly dismissed due to their lack of pace even thought they were 10x better than a good majority of current players with the ball at their feet.

That's very true mate, but they 'got away with it' to a large degree because the pace of the game was slower? Go back even further to players like Francis Lee - even larger, even slower but extremely effective in their era. I think Premier League footballers are expected to be athletes these days? Miserable old bastards like me working their arses off for a pittance read stuff about personal dieticians and ridiculously inflated salaries and just think you fuckin overpaid fat twat?
