Theirs a chant to "Goody Two Shoes" in there somewhere! Never mind that, 'Badou Badou' fits the Pink Panther tune perfectly! That's the first thing I thought when I saw the title!

The manager doesn't buy the players, he says what sort of player he wants and approves the purchases the recruitment team have prepared. So we still don't have a manager, we shouldn't be linked with anyone right now. I don't follow your logic. Hughes will have said what type or players he needs many months ago and the transfer team will have been working on it. They won't have been waiting for 2nd January! By now I expect they transfer team have a list of potential targets to meet Hughes requirements, some they have possible been following for years, waiting for their present contract to run down or for them to become out of favour at their present club. I expect as we talk about it they are busy talking to other clubs and agents about potential deals. Hughes"first signing" was Pieters as Pulis wanted a LB and their was nearly a deal done the preceding January but Pieters injured himself putting his fist through a glass window. The deal was lined up for the next window, by which time Hughes had arrived.

The bigger issue is why are we targeting more foreign players? Bauer and Badou might be good players in time. How long will they take to settle in? Nobody knows.
We need proven Premier League quality this window ready to hit the ground running, especially with a new manager and coaching staff.
Please, no more risks until the summer.

Even though Hughes said more than once they were his players? Wouldn't be great for morale if he came out with "Well I asked for Lemina but they gave me Darren fucking Fletcher". You just wouldn't say it would you, there's no need if its not true.

It would be bonkers to sign a player only for a new manager to come in and say the player you've just bought doesn't fit in my style. Surely we learned that lesson years ago when Pulis bought in Sidibe only to get sacked and Boskamp then using mame sparingly

Its football at the end of the day. We are not signing tennis players and expecting them to play cricket. Maybe the "proven Premier League" quality is not available

He's just a right full back or wing back. Are you suggesting the new manager wont see the need for one? I'll spare your embarrassment by telling you how many games Mama played under Boskamp.

Two thirds of the recruitment team that has so far failed us are still here, still signing players so let's see how it works out. If you are confident then good luck to you. I'm not. We need a change in direction IMO and this isn't it.

However that said the new boss may have sanctioned it for all of know And to answer your questions on mame the point was more that he was a Pulis signing and no I don't know the exact number without googling it which I don't really want to do

They are investments, ie. risks. The new manager is going to inherit a squad of 25 or so, none of which he has bought. Is he going to dismiss them all as useless as he did not buy them? What difference is one right back going to make, which is an area where we desperately need to strengthen. You used an example to back up your point from 12 years ago, no less, which turned out to be completely wrong. Mama was much loved by Boskamp, actually playing him 42 times in the one season he was in charge.

The club can probably take a gamble on Badou and whatshsname Moritz?? as long as we've got a couple of quality and proven additions to come in alongside them. But if Badou and Moritz are the only in-comers, then it's a big gamble. Hopefully the new manager will be able to attract some proven Prem quality.

The reality of life for a manager is you have to work with what you are given, Big Sam, Hogson, Pardew, Moyes, and Puel have had to do it so far this season. I had to do it over 30 years of my working life; it's what managers do.

You get what you can take in the January window - what Premier club is going to let go a fit in-form player in January - unless we're talking Courtinho to Barca? Anybody we get in now is going to be a punt - and we can't afford to lose out on available players while we wait for the new manager to get their feet under the table. The new manager is going to have to work with what he's got anyway - a few new faces untainted by recent events won't do any harm.

Virtually all the Prem clubs are fighting for a place in Europe or looking how far they are above Stoke at the moment, so very few are going to sell a "proven Prem. quality" player. Most will be looking to off-load a Johnson. The best chance we have IMO is replacing Jese with some one from a CL top team who is currently not getting game time, and the parent club can afford to loan him till next season, like Zouma, but as we saw with Bony that doesn't always work.

But surely it's got to be better for the new manager to have a couple of new faces in than for him to turn up to the first day of training to realise the steaming pile of sh#*e you have just inherited. With no time to change it?
