Supposedly interested in the job Linkarino"Paul Lambert is ready to answer any SOS from Stoke City to manage them until the end of the season. Lambert is believed to have made known his enthusiasm for the vacancy following Saturday's dismissal of Mark Hughes. The 48 year-old Scot would be a rank outsider, of course, but does have the attraction of being available to take over immediately. And time is of the essence for the Stoke City board as they seek an appointment well in time for next Monday's return to Premier League action at Manchester United. " Coates should be writing him a two word response to his CV - "Fuck Off"

His record stands up to most. His win rate was 44.2% at Colchester in League One. His win rate with Norwich over three seasons, from League One to survival in the Premier League was 49.3%. Lambert's record is tarnished at Villa - 29% and Blackburn, albeit a basket case club, with 36.4%. Wolves he wasn't bad with 42.4%. Just saying...

He would not be my first, second, or third choice but people need to get their heads in gear.
This guy did a cracking job at Norwich and, I believe, was a very good manager at Celtic - he must have some ability. Every manager can go through bad patches and it is obviously sensible to consider the good and the bad.
He could be a useful backup.

It's not a terrible option to have in the back pocket...

Far from the worst option but I really hope we can do better. Does have experience of managing a team suffering from long term underinvestment and pisspoor transfer dealings.

That apart, he has an average 39% win percentage and averaged 1.4 pts a game in his managerial career - and that includes the Villa debacle. 38 x 1.4 = 53 pts. Would take 80% of that right now (as a backup option).

Lambertwas never Celtic's manager. He was a pretty good player for a couple of years.
He was a good manager at Norwich at first.

Did ok at Villa in very challenging circumstances not unlike our own(an owner unwilling to spend) bought youngsters through didn't get relegated. We could do worse and without a change of thinking from the owners nobody will pull up any trees that's for certain.
