I think Bauer's got 24 hours to prove himself.

In what situation? If he's a success we're not. The new manager didn't sign any of the players in the team (unless it's the capped one) so does your negativity apply to every single player or just Bauer? Sorry I edited my post. We're all losers if the new manager doesn't fancy him. Well let's wait and see what happens before getting all excited at the prospect of pissing ourselves at him not being fancied by the new manager coming in.

Whoever the new manager is has 30-odd professionals that he won't have signed and has to get to know. One more £5M signing is hardly a crisis is it? Exactly!

At Stoke for their rookie mistakes! And going back to your previous question on the new manager also not having signed any players currently in the squad (Unless it's the capped one) I don't agree with that argument because we don't need to add to that, Let him decide on the players he wants.

Fecking hell, what is going on. He apparently has pace, power and great technical ability and has played every game for his club both cup and league and is 25 and he's a right-sided defender - when was the last time we signed someone with potential in that position, when was the last time we signed a right-sided defender 5 windows too late mind Can't argue with that - def worth a punt Well done SCFC - Hughes could not have had owt to do with that surely - if so then bring him back

They thrive on bashing me.

We've had managers in before who've actually signed players and then not played them - Kitson, Palacios. My approach is to usually reserve judgement on the unknowns and focus on the knowns.

I’m so confused. The Hughes apologists maintained Hughes didn’t sign new players. Hughes certainly didn’t sign full backs. He just extended contracts of old crap full backs and let go better full backs, Now that Hughes has gone, Hughes has signed a new full back.

The issue is that we don't know the framework in place that Stoke operate to when signing players. We don't know if it's a pre-requisite for any new manager coming in to adhere to this approach. We don't know if other clubs in the Premier League have got the same or different approach. This "unprofessional" approach might well be a standard business approach in the weird world of premier league football. I'm just happy we've signed a right back who would appear to have some pedigree. I'd have also been happy with Fredericks. It's a position as fans we know we're short in.

I'm trying to understand Riccyfuller's concerns. Presumably Riccy doesn't want us to get rid of Johnson before the new manager is appointed? After all the new manager might think he is the best back four player we have and will be gutted if he has been moved on?

It's not in the norm to sign a player with no manager, unless like another poster mentioned if you have a head coach. We let this deal go through even though we knew we were sacking Hughes I presume. So we've signed a player for the new manager and that sparks up a lot of questions about our transfer policy.

You don’t help yourself mate If I say something that people will not agree with then they call me an attention seeker instead of actually supplying some decent points to my argument. It's a minority of people. Quite a few posters on this thread have made good points for this signing.

Let's just welcome the lad to the club and give him a chance to show us what he has.
I'm sure he will be here long enough for us to slate him if he's crap.
Welcome to Stoke ....Moritz Bauer.... You just show us what you can do...

There are numerous questions about our transfer policy that need answering and they were relevant before we signed Bauer. On the plus side we've signed a right back.

Managers come and go, and more so in the summer and usually transfers happen when a manager is appointed. I don't like that we gave Hughes this much time, but sooooo many people defended him and now Stoke Fans have been punished for that. Maybe we could be punished again with this latest bit of business if he's not what the new manager wants. We really should've been rid of Hughes last summer.

Nobody is really doubting his ability though. You called him Austria’s 9th choice right back earlier? In the heat of the moment especially being massively disappointed by the Stoke City twitter page I did make some unfair comments. He's an unknown signing for me, but he's been talked up well on here. It is concerning when you look at how he hasn't been more involved with the Austrian team because that team is absolutely wank. An Austrian poster cleared up why he hasn't featured so much though in my defence.
