It obviously hinges on who we appoint, we don’t need a miracle worker just someone who can organise the defence and identify a system that best suits our squad.
Hopefully we can benefit from the new manager effect that occurs more often than not. As bad as things seem the bottom half of this league is incredibly tight and if we can somehow string a few results together we can overtake a lot of our rivals. It’s also the post-Christmas part of the season where the promoted clubs are especially susceptible to a dip in form as the adrenaline from premiership novelty starts to normalise. It might not affect Newcastle as much but Huddersfield and Brighton (we still have home games against both) could very well struggle on that front.
Going to predict we’ll become mathematically safe with two games left to play.

I don't know how you cant be bothered you nerd. You should be. Is your life so desperately poor that your life will fall apart if we get relegated...? Mine isn’t 😁 Two lovely kids, good job and a cracking lady thanks. Stick to stacking tins son What does this have to do with the price of eggs ? Even I have all you mentioned and more (3 lovely sons actually) but i'd still be devastated to see us go down as a result of sheer incompetence If you're not bovverd stick to the cracking lady and leave this board to the ones who care about their team

I have a renewed confidence in Stoke now following the sacking of Hughes.
If it makes me feel this way, what does it make the players feel, especially those who fell out with Hughes/Bowen.
Definitely staying up!!

Too little, too late for me . Can’t see the replacement having enough time to turn it around unfortunately, the damage is done. I hope and pray I’ll be proved wrong. Hughes... what have you done to my football club?

It's obviously touch and go. He should have gone in The Summer. The appointment of the next manager is absolutely crucial. It's got to be someone who can organise and get the players a whole lot fitter. He needs to be given a decent amount of money. Ten to 15 million will just not cut it.
It's going to be a hell of a week.

Obviously hope we stay up but fully expect that we are Going down,
If we had taken the decision 5-6 weeks ago more chance of staying up with draws against Burnley and West ham and win against Newcastle with 15 points to find
I hope I am wrong

First things first - the New manager (whoever it is - O Neill for my money) has 2 things to do. Firstly, he has to inspire a positive reaction with our current group and secondly he has to bring in a decent holding mid who is ready to come in and perform immediately.
Being positive, I can see us surviving if we can manage to adequately address those two points, but it is too close to call, particularly if West Brom can build on their win today and Swansea keep up their new manager bounce.

We are looking very fucking sick at the moment. Even in the difficult times in our early days there was a Beattie but this time I think we are fucked.

I was 100% certain we were going down if Hughes had remained in charge.
After tonight's news although we are still a very poor team I have a little more confidence that a new manager with 3, 4 or even 5 new signings (I know that's probably mission impossible with our budget and time remaining in this window) can give us enough of a lift to help us avoid relegation. I know it's going to be a huge ask and an enormous improvement is required, but I've at least got some hope for the first time in a few months.
It's an absolutely massive decision for Coates to appoint the right manager for the next chapter in our club's history - let's all get behind whoever is appointed and hopefully help to make the next few years successful once again.

We should all collectively lump a curse bet on to stop it from happening.

Really wish we would collectively grow some balls and stop all this pathetic self defeatism. We have only just slipped into the bottom three. We still have the January transfer window and we will have players coming back from injury.

Oh mate we haven't got a Manager the window is open and the days tick away Well maybe we do but it just needs finalising, dotting the i's and crossing the t's kind of thing? Call me naive if you want, but I want to be positive. I'm sick of all the doom and gloom.

48 vital points to play for. I shall keep believing until we are mathematically relegated.
We now have to get back that steel and let other teams hate playing against us instead of being the charitable club that we are.
Come on you mighty potters !!!
