What are the board playing at... No suitable alternatives? Are you kidding me! OK... We keep hughes and continue in poor form. 1.Who Is going to sign for hughes in the window knowing he is on borrowed time and may not be favoured by any potential new manager. 2.how is the attitude of the current players going to change if hughes is still here. 3.if Hughes was able/knew how to turn this around it would have been done a while back. 4.hughes knows he's only here because there's "no suitable alternative". How bothered is he now in his role? 5.The vast majority of fans have turned and will be on his back at every false move. 6.The fans are losing patience with the board.
Seriously what are the positives of keeping him on at this stage?

We don’t have to spend any money :-). On a serious note, not many. But as it is now becoming clear we have no succession planning in place and our limited scope for choosing a manager, if you have a choice of Hughes or McLaren what do you do?!. Rock and hard place that one!

Odd that McLaren is a name being mentioned, when you look at what Newcastle did a couple of years ago, they delayed and delayed sacking McLaren until really it was too late, Rafa came in , I think with 6 games to rescue them, had it been even a couple more he probably would have kept them up, lets hope we do not go down this road, and if we are gonna swing the axe then swing it sooner rather than later.

I give up with the board. I have no confidence in them whatsoever to solve this problem.
Clearly this whole farce runs deeper than just Hughes being inept in his job.

This can't be all down to Hughes. If Hughes goes because the players cost him his job, then surely our scouting network (if we have one) and the people that sanction the deals need to go too.
I very much doubt that Wimmer, Fletcher, Jesé were anywhere near Hughes 1st choices. I can imagine he's been massively let down by the people who are supposed to be helping him get the players he wanted / needed.

"Who else will do it?"
What more positives do you need? This bloke is obviously a massive hero for taking this job on.

I agree, Hughes does need to go as for me he has totally lost it, There appears to be so much ineptitude in so many areas its in frightening, Cartwright is our man to find us our hidden gems, his job is extremely important in a club our size, yet bar Arnie when we sign players we never seem to make a profit when they leave Scholes seem woeful at getting deals done. I am not sure at this point we have time to make all the changes we need to make to in order to survive.

Don't have to completely restructure your backroom staff halfway through a season. That's the only one I can come up with and I think that's all the board have got. Other than ego in admitting they've fucked things up by backing the wrong man.

We won’t get as many hammerings next season in the championship. And there are far more Midlands clubs in the Championship to visit.

I agree. I think the board will back him and he will buy new players and bring in loan players. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 4 players coming in.

In the recent transfer windows we have looked desperate and amateurish. Not always our fault as the Agents hold us to ransom to see if they can get a better offer for their clients. Not sure if it’s possible nowadays but why not make an offer and give the players 48 hours to make a decision and then withdraw the offer if they don’t make a decision. We may not always be successful but we take back control. If a few other clubs followed suit then it may make a difference.

Well not keeping him but possibly letting him go .... At least the PHW / HHW / Rimmer's of both , are in the main quite friendly with each other and in agreement for once ☺️

Lamina soares and redmond remind me how's Southamptons season going If he’d been backed there is no question we’d be better than we are , if we decide to stick the only way for him to stay is sign a new contract to cut the noise settle things down and give him the £100m required , we have to hit our way out of trouble one way Or the other a brave appointment or a positive decision to stick Our Ceo will do neither hiding behind the veil of sustainability with ownership reporting mind blowing profits , small time thinking which has no place in the worlds elite league , you can be small, and ambitious , Burnley , Leicester , Palace or tiny and ambitious Bournemouth but you can’t be small minded , small time , indecisive and incompetent and survive in this league
