The sad thing is I lean more to the 'Hughes in' side every time I read we're linked to the likes of Giggs, Pearson, MON and McLaren. Maybe it's Stoke's very own Project Fear and they're leaking these names to garner support for the hopeless Hughes?

Enter Mark Bowen: "The gaffer has caught a cold"! I see that Spinks is floating the idea that Bowen might cover the press conference - whilst Hughes attends his job interview and 4 days late transfer window strategic planning showdown meeting!,, www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-news-transfer-1008640It is understood the embattled Stoke boss was always due to meet the club hierarchy this week, but the origin topic of conversation was supposed to be January transfers. Now, following that 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle United on New Year's Day, reports suggest Hughes's future at Stoke will top the agenda.
Whether that meeting will encroach on today's 2.30pm media briefing remains to be seen, but it could give Hughes the chance to send out assistant boss Mark Bowen to answer questions on Saturday's tricky third round tie at League Two Coventry... and other issues facing the struggling Potters.
Don't suppose they can win whatever they do. If it's Hughes, it's a pretty unedifying feeding frenzy where he wants the ground to open up in front of him as he tries to explain why he's been hung out to dry. If it's Bowen, it's 10 minutes of 'Where's Mark?'

The project is over, if we can scrape enough points to stay on the gravy train fine if not fine is what I hear from the board. They are no more interested in backing a new manager as they are with Hughes.

Anyone that bothered if we lose this one? I never want us lose obviously but it's come to the point where defeat would probably be better in the long term.

Using words like twat at someone you don't even know is quite stupid is it not? Hughes is a playing legend unlike you and also a thoroughly decent person!

I will happily consider removing the the word twat Maybe I could change it to a throroughly decent tactically inept fraud of a manger who has stole a living off the club we both allegedly support Happier

I'm not re-writing anything with a squad he inherited and tinkered with he earned his money Since he has brought what is now almost all his own squad he is stealing a living as are most of his players

Yes because I think it will utterly destroy our confidence and morale, no because I can't see us winning it, so it is just another distraction considering the difficult few months we have ahead.

Totally agree, but the damage he is doing is effectively re-writing his own history. Had he left 6 months ago, he would have been considered in only the highest regard by most Stoke fans. Both he and Coates have completely undone the good work they've done unfortunately. Still, I won't call him a twat. He's a genuine enough bloke and was an absolute legend in his playing days.

I take it you do know him, personally speaking I think he is coming across as an arrogant useless twat, just my opinion of the man who is ruining our club if you don't like it tough shit.

If all is true, why would you look for another manager but discuss players with the manager you may sack!

So Hughes is definitely getting the sack, Alan?
If Stoke find a replacement. It’s a smart way of doing it.

I've just asked Nicko about the manager thing...
@reluctantnicko Nicko, in terms of as you said Stoke deffo looking for new manager, could you say it was a big name, surprise or one Stoke fans may suspect such as O'Neill?
Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko Want Prem experience. There’s one that fits.
@joshscfc1863 British or Irish only though? I and a few others want Mancini or Rodgers, but deffo don't want MoN
Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko Prem experience. Full stop.

Someone has asked Nicko if Currently Employed or Not to which he responds yes So with prem experience in job at the moment Martin O Neill Brendan Rodgers Mancini Pearson No Karanka Paul Spencer, I think Nicko's yes suggest they are employed atm. And Dyche I guess if you take who is supposedly on our interest list and betting odds.

So, if Nixon is right (and there's no guarantee he is of course), that would immediately rule out the likes of Giggs, Rowett, Jokanovic etc. Shortlist of McClaren, Koeman and MO'N at a guess, with outside chance of Rodgers or Mancini? Surely we wouldn't go for someone like Monk, and I highly doubt we are anywhere near attractive enough for the likes fo Dyche or Wagner. Would still like Benitez tbh but he's another I can't see moving to us.

Not a chance of Dyche or Rodgers at this stage of the season you would have thought.
