I did post awhile ago that these signings where not down to Hughes , he is given a list of players who are available and is told who he can have from the list , he doesn't get to say who he would like , all the players are picked by the transfer team

Dave, are you suggesting that the manager is having the signing forced upon him? Not suggesting anything,I would hope that if a Manager was not happy with signings then he should say so, I have not heard any comments from Mark Hughes to suggest that he is not happy with the signings, surely now would be the time to say something, before any more money is wasted in this window. Dave what was Bowen referring to when he said there are Reasons for the calamitous defeats but now is not the time ? Could it be managers list of Gibbs , Maguire, Keane , zabaleta

Are you implying he's become a nodding dog? Any manager at any football club should be choosing his own signings under a budget. "He should say if he is not happy with the signings" ??? If anyone believes this guy is genuine there is your confirmation. Hughes is bang on "Who else would do it!? "

I think that a statement from the board would help. Dave what’s your view on Scholes & Cartwright choosing these signings not Hughes (Imbula wimmer etc) How do you know that Scholes and Cartwright made these signing?

Trotting it out once is ok but allowing yourself to be subject to such a practice for a second time is beyond foolish. Find it difficult to acceptit other than as a poor attempt to cover up poor choices.

It's a complete fuck up at all levels. Nobody escapes with any integrity.
We've been regressing for fucking ages and the least you'd expect from senior management would be to start preparing for a change in manager. We should have been having conversations in the background and finding out who was interested and available. In this day and age it's even easy to tap up managers who are already in work. Informal conversations with agents or "friends of friends" should have been ongoing for months, to set the wheels in motion should the downward spiral continue, so that we were ready to act.
We're just sleepwalking into fucking disaster. It hasn't happened overnight. We've failed to prepare for something which has been coming for a long fucking time.
Week in week out Hughes keeps telling us "we're ok" and that the owners "understand what we're trying to do here" and I always assumed it was a smoke screen. Its looking more and more like that he was actually giving a fair reflection of what has been going on and what those in charge truly believed.
Everybody has seemingly been high fiving each other behind closed doors, safe in the assumption that things would just magically get better. That "we're doing ok".
We've now missed various opportunities to get rid of the manager and start the recovery. It's now looking precariously like we've left it too late and we're standing around with our hands in our pockets as we head for oblivion.
The actions and management of those higher up is every bit as incompetent as Hughes' management of the team itself.
When will the radio silence end? When will we realise the magnitude of the situation we're in and take action?
The silence is deafening.

The board are again having meetings to try and push the club forward.Decisions still need to be made on what's best for the club at this moment in time. Will they finally realise that a business model of self sufficiency is doomed to failure in the premier league, especially when all of your rivals are moving in a completely different direction? They'll never be self sufficient when the manager wastes £50m

The Manager needs to pick his players Are you saying that he doesn't? He's saying exactly that. Obvious why we don't want to change manager, nobody else will do it, as Mark himself says

Interesting to see what happens. You may wonder why he would take a lower wage and put up with others choosing player but if the board have offered him long term employment you can see why he as stayed.
When you are a mid table side and no chance of winning the league the club should change manager every three years just to keep the interest up.

Could be about as helpful as a Donald Trump tweet! The only thing that is important right now is the relationship between the players and the coaching staff, which shouldn’t be hard for the board to figure out. Hughes strikes me as an old-fashioned authoritarian manager, which only works well with today’s generation of players when they are winning. Once you start losing morale drops like a stone.

Define irony
Board gives manager restrictions in transfer market only for it not to work, this forces said board to look for a manager in a restrictive pool of managers that will not work under their restrictions
😂😆 what a bunch of clowns, bravo

1) Have an initial announcement re Hughes future.
2) Sign a player. Any truth in us being interested in the lad from Milan.

Still not gone yet?! Funny, i remember listening to PC in some radio interview when Claudio Ranieri got the chop and he was asked if he was surprised by the decision or somesuch to which he intimted he was not surprised at all as football is a business and it's a results business at that. For all we know, PC wants him gone and the others are dithering? maybe TP would've come back with PC's approval but the others said 'no'? Oh, who knows anything really! It's just the usual mash-up isn't it?! I'm actually getting bored now.

Haven't done the maths but guessing that the £48m wasted is at least equal if not more than has been spent on successes. Agree all managers waste money but they must at least have more successes than failures

If I had to pick who the greater villain is, I'd go with the Board. Hughes is arrogant, frustrating and clueless as a manager, but, I don't get the sense he is ultimately the problem. I'd love to know the story at the board level. How can Coates have let things get to this level if he supposedly wants the team to succeed? There's got to be a great story there, and I'd be very surprised if senility plays into it. There has to be something going on between Coates and Scholes. Maybe one day we'll find out what it is.

Being honest, it’s already too late. The Board should have done it by now if they were going to make a change. Dithering only reinforces:
1. The Board had NOT considered this may be needed = zero succession planning or foresight. 2. In not suspecting this would happen tells me that they did not recognise the regression that has been blatantly obvious to the masses for some time now. How outnof touch can they be? 3. With no DIRECT statement, the Board are misreading the situation and therefore seem to have no affinity with the fan base, who are genuinely concerned. 4. The Board can only do two things. Back him or Sack him. To do NOTHING in the face of the biggest unrest for 20 years does not fill me full of confidence.
The above concerns me as the problem could be deep rooted. If we somehow scrape survival I think Coates Snr will step aside with a massive sigh of relief.
Back Him = Say so and ship £50m in a January. Sack Him = Do it and ship £50m in January.
Compensation to a potential club, if we take a manager in employment + The New Manager and their team’s wage is the ONLY difference in outlay.
