Don't know a lot about him other than he's the managing director of a failing enterprise. Married to Denise Coates. Enough said.... Fair play, It's up to Denise then. Fuck me you couldn't make it up.

Keep him we are down. Simple as that.
Change and we give ourselves some sort of chance.

Wouldn't say that's definitive though. Plenty of wiggle room once they reflect more.

He will be the representative of the owner on the board. There will only be one person that he says yes to and it won't be PC.

Why are people having a pop at Richard Smith? He's not a Football man by his own admission and his recent projects have been in his area of expertise, namely building and construction.
I dare say that despite challenging circumstances, all projects have been completed on time and on spec, which is a damn site more than we can say about the football side of the business.

The swathes of empty seats will get Coates and Scholes's attention, especially being in the new corner.

Yes I'm expecting an announcement on how good the glass of red and steak was after the match.
Raffa has stated how much he loves coming to Stoke a team you can always rely on when you're in a crisis.
The club shop will be selling Hughes in/Hughes out double sided scarves in an attempt to make us self sufficient.

It usually takes a board meeting but since Coates is the owner and Scholes and Smith are paid directors they can't have that much influence. Personally Hughes his assistants and both Scholes and Smith should all be shown the door. Hopefully by the time MOTD is shown it will be announced. Cold light of day. Tuesday meeting and reckon it will still be touch and go (to give Hughes the sack) Sack son in law oh yes

The swathes of empty seats will get Coates and Scholes's attention, especially being in the new corner. The empty seats in the corner are ecause these seats are given to schools across the county for free. No such seats have been given out over the Xmas period and they went on general sale for the first time since we had the corner. 2 sides scrapping for relegation is hardly gonna cause a race for tickets and I haven't seen any additional advertising either.

Have put similar on Twitter which obviously countless others have too but the most concerning thing for me is the fact this is even a consideration. What more do they need to fire him, unless there is something else going on behind the scenes (which I quite well believe there could be)?
The awful defence, the capitulation against the big sides, the lack of away wins, the failure to beat any of the promoted teams this season (losing to Newcastle twice), more home defeats against Bournemouth and West Ham.
When other sides have fired managers for much less or put up with shit for much less time than we have, it makes me think something is going on much deeper than the surface of which we observe every weekend.
If the board don’t think there’s an issue then there’s an issue with the board. There is no reason to give Hughes more time, we have come as far as we can under his stewardship and it’s insane to keep gambling on him improving us given what’s at stake, unless there is something truly, truly rotten. It might sound harsh on Coates as we’d love to believe how big a supporter he is but if he’s not willing to give Hughes the shove then how much does he really care? Or who actually makes the business decisions?
It frightens me that this is the end of our cycle in the PL and now another 20 odd years in the footballing wilderness is to follow. Sorry if this sounds melodramatic but I don’t know if I can physically face going down and having to do this shit all over again. This has all been so avoidable and it’s remarkable how long it’s been allowed to continue. We’re all tearing our hair out whilst those at the top don’t seem willing, able or decent enough to do the right thing and sack the manager.

Losing at home is bad but it's hardly a sackable offense.

Losing at home is bad but it's hardly a sackable offense. The football, transfer windows and general attitude of the club has been farcical and embarrassing for 2 years. This is about more than just today, we need to draw the line somewhere. We’re probably the only club in Europe that would not sack the manager somewhere within the last 2 years. Coates’ loyalty has become a flaw, it’s a weakness that’s going to get us relegated.

True bet365 own the club but Coates is the chairman who should be making the hard decisions He's become an incompetent silly old man. A clown who's keeping the clown in charge
