We desperately need some at the moment. Diouf’s Goal disallowed when it should have stood, Mignolet’s non sending off ( the Bristol City keeper sent off for a very similar challenge against Wolves on the weekend) plus all of our injuries. Fingers crossed we get a lucky break soon. ‘Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity’

With any luck the manager will be gone by the end of the day.
Newcastle restricted Man City to a certain extent in the week so if anyone thinks our pitiful attack can break through or that Hughes can out smart Rafa then I'd think again. We will lose today and maybe just maybe we can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Fletcher is so unlucky to keep passing to the opposition, we were so unlucky to concede only 5 to Spurs and Chelsea. I'd actually say we've been quite lucky. If it wasn't for 'luck' Arnie would have scored 7 against us the other week. We're not unlucky: we're crap.

We've had a few decisions go against us recently, but the referees aren't responsible for us having the worst defensive record in the division. We've had lots of players pick up niggling muscle injuries for almost all of Hughes' time in charge here, which makes me (a bystander who is totally unqualified to make a proper judgement, I hasten to add) wonder if it's related to the way we train and the entire fitness regime more than it is just pure luck.
Sometimes, you make your own luck. We've not done that anywhere near enough recently.

Not sure how hard it is to 'out smart Rafa' he's that rare thing a man who has won fewer points than Sparky this season, I'm not convinced he is some great svengali !

Losers rely in luck. Winners make their own. Or they could just play as the competent professionals that they're paid very handsomely to do so.

I don't think we can say we have been particularly lucky......but then you make your own luck. What I would say is that we have definitely not been unlucky.....yet. This will come as it does to all slides at the bottom.......just wait and see when we play well but get unlucky, then it will show which direction we are heading in.

To a great extent you make your own luck What annoys me most about the situation we are in is that after 10 years in the Premier league we still don't have a squad of players we can rotate. We are allowed 25 plus youth players, injuries and suspensions will happen so it isn't luck having replacements it good management. Scholes, Hughes or Coates, whoever, should ensure we have 25 players worthy of playing.

How the hell do you "make your own luck"? It's another bollocks football phrase, like he's lost the dressing room, his legs have gone, sleepwalking to relegation, and my favourite - papering over the cracks. The definition of luck is the exact opposite of 'making your own'.... "success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions"

The definition of luck is the exact opposite of 'making your own'.... "success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions" It's amazing though that the better teams seem the more lucky. It's not luck and in football I think the phrase makes sense. If you attack more, shoot more etc you will get more penalties, deflections and things that people deem to be lucky. Its more a state of mind. Good sides will see it as being good. Losers will bleat on about having bad luck when in reality they're just shit.

Wow you're even more fucking deluded than our manager. We didn't hit the post before they scored from a penalty that should not have been given and their player got a three match ban for diving over then, and the majority of chances Arnie missed weren't at 1-0 ? These are pretty much facts.

Are you saying we were unlucky in that game? Deserved a better outcome? Regardless of whether their penalty was correct or not, we had zero shots on target. Not one for 90 minutes. If we were unlucky regarding the penalty, I'd say we were lucky that Arnie missed so many good chances and it should have been 5 or 6 nil.

The only lucky thing about the West Ham game was that it wasn't 5/6 nil.
And that wasn't luck either, that was Arnie being shite at finishing as he always has been.

If we were unlucky regarding the penalty, I'd say we were lucky that Arnie missed so many good chances and it should have been 5 or 6 nil. Do these chances come if we are not chasing the game though is my point, this season we are less bad if we score first if we have to chase a game we get caught out regularly. We should not have been 1-0 down, did that change the result we will never know. The zero shot thing, Ryans header goes the other side of the post its 1-0, keeps his header down with 15 minutes to go it would have been 1-1 that's a different game against another poor side lacking in confidence. And again I'm not saying we are playing like Brazil but so many people on here have so much invested in the Hughes out now or we are doomed that they can not see the wood for the trees. I don't see us going down and I expect Hughes will go in the summer unless there is a major cup run and or a major pick up in form that sees us comfortably into the top 10.
