"Blame the Premier League"?
Embarrassing, everyone else played today and everyone will play on Monday too. We have had it no differently than any other club in the division.

Not sure anyone is bemoaning the manager for the rotation and conceding the game. It's the fact that he's failed to build a competitive squad after wasting a lot of fucking money.

Sorry but that is simply not true. I'm not defending Hughes but it is unfair that Chelsea have a 4 day break before their next game while we play again within 48 hours. Unfortunately the television schedules cause these anomalies but I suppose they pay enough for the privilege.

He's done what he's done. He's ramped Monday's game up into complete shit or bust. If it's bust, I just hope the fucker has the decency to do the right thing.

What was Hughes supposed to do? One day rest between games in the Premier League? He had no choice. Newcastle is a six pointer. Should he have tried to get a noble away draw and lose to our real rivals? This is the new shiny Premier League and we as fans need to adjust to its reality. That’s all Mark Hughes did today Rubbish, one of the most pathetic excuses I’ve seen in a long time. What about the other thrashings then?

I was talking about yesterday. What he did was entirely understandable.
We’re slaves to tv money and they dictate the schedule.
Do you really think with the intensity of the Prem the same 11 can play to their best with a days rest?
Add to that injuries and Zouma being ineligible.
I would have done exactly the same

I was talking about today What about the rest of the fucking season?? Even in thinking he was being pragmatic, he has fucked up. He has, on more than one occasion, saying that he deliberately put out a "weakened" what the hell does that say to the guys that played? It is rank bad management and just add the the catalogue of mark Hughes errors!

I would have done exactly the same I had no complaints with the starting 11 yesterday - my issue is simply how on earth have we reached a point where the squad is so paper thin, absent of midfielders and so utterly lacklustre ? What he did put out was also clearly bereft of any sort or organisation and pathetically demotivated

No problem with the side he put out just the fact that they played the same spineless game plan as the first choice 11. 9 behind the ball camp on the edge of your box, jockey don’t tackle, so obvious to see that even a youngster like N’Goy had no enthusiasm for what he was asked to do. Joyless football just like his predecessor. If you acknowledge you’re going to lose why not lose having a go and playing proper balanced football give a young forward a chance to play a forward role if you want another defender bring a defender on at least he’ll gain some experience in his role. Soul destroying fucking nonsense.

What can Hughes have been expected to do? Build a squad that can deal with the known demands of the premier league.
Chelsea away in the middle of the festive period isn't ideal, but 4 games in little over a week happens every year.
You can clearly see his ambition was to write off the Chelsea game and go with his strongest sides for Huddersfield and Newcastle... so I think it's fair to say anything other than a win tomorrow and his plan has failed quite majorly.
Every other team has to play the same amount of fixtures at more or less the same times... other than the Chelsea game you've got to admit it's been a pretty kind fixture list on paper this Christmas.

Today he couldn't really have done anything else, but play some fringe players & the back four picked itself through injuries and Zouma's loan rules. What we shouldn't have done was concede in the 2nd minute, as this immediately got Chelsea on the front foot & put doubt into our young defenders' minds from the start. Risking more injuries to our main players by them playing two games in 48 hours was too big a risk with the importance of the Newcastle game being paramount to our chances of staying up this season. I think that's a correct analysis of his reasoning, but I think the interesting speculation is what he would have done had we not had the defensive injuries. I suspect that with the makeshift back line he decided that we couldn't get anything out of the game, so why risk Allen, Shaq, Chupo etc. I don't agree with that approach, not least because I spent 15 hours plus the money going to support the team, but I accept that there is a logic to it. I would love to know if he would have rested them if he had had a first choice defence at his disposal. I would guess not, or at least not to that extent. It's all a sad comment on today's PL which is hopelessly financially imbalanced and dominated by fear of relegation for most clubs. I don't agree with what he did, but I can understand why he did it.

I just thought that I would throw this out there. The Premier LeagueBasically it's a piece that talks about Stoke, the frustration of mid-table mediocrity and how the Premier League has begun to lose its novelty for many supporters.
