The only protest I can remember that actually worked was by NUFC, all fans turned up as per usual but instead of taking to their seats at kickoff they stayed in the concourse areas and at a given time emerged en-mass to take to their seats, this caused a major embarrassment for the owners as it was a visual statement picked up by the tv networks broadcasting globally and also by the national press. The money received on gate receipts is minuscule compared to the brand recognition Bet365 receives from the worldwide coverage premiership football gets

I think Liverpool fans also did this to protest at the proposed increase in price of season tickets, they also succeeded!

I think Liverpool fans also did this to protest at the proposed increase in price of season tickets, they also succeeded! Bit of a difference in protesting about price increase and doing something before a game that could have an effect on the players when we need them fully focused.

This is literally one of the most stupid threads on this messageboard ... and that's saying something! The only alternative is to do nothing, and doing nothing very rarely accomplishes anything. Take note fans, take note Peter Coates. This is a fan otientated football club being taken away from right in front of us. Doing nothing is as stupid as it gets.

Not sure that we have enough stock of pies to be fair. Also it's a wank idea, maybe need to think harder.

I think an empty stadium for the first 10 minutes would send a great message.

I get that it seems laughable but the idea as you’ve probably read is like at Charlton where the fans all threw tennis balls on the pitch. Only it shows more substance because people are willing to pay £3 each to make the statement that this club is an embarrassment at the moment.

At first I thought this was a pathetic and ridiculous idea. I've come to the conclusion its a great idea and you should go for it, The sight of half a dozen dickheads throwing pies on the pitch for no apparent reason would look pathetic and ridiculous. Go for it boys . and afterwards take a good long look at the footage and then look up the word "hubris".

Stay on the concourse until after the game kicks off, then take to your seats with a massive Hughes out chant, our stand up and turn your backs to the pitch.

We might as well do something outrageously stupid, to catch the attention of the clowns.

I have another idea........let's support the club instead eh? I’m still going to support the club. It would just be nice to, as fans, have a say in all this. When it is clear the owners of OUR FOOTBALL CLUB, clearly cannot see the dire straits this club is in at the moment. Once the pies are on the pitch I’ll be fully behind the lads for 90 minutes.

In fact, come to think of it. Pies on the pitch before the game and 90 minutes well and truly behind the team would be a lot less disheartening than hearing boos ring out or chants of Hughes out during play.

I have another idea........let's support the club instead eh? Crazy talk. Stupid pastry based protests are the future. Motivating the team through cheering and encouragement is old hat. Anybody who knows the first thing about modern motivational techniques recognises that seeing a bunch of pillocks throwing pies on the pitch is the only way of motivating the modern footballer. Get real.

What a dumb idea, let's all go and give the club the best part of a fiver to throw away onto the pitch ? Why not just throw £5 notes ?
Then there is the whole morality issue, their are literally poor folk dying on the streets due to austerity, kids homeless at Xmas and starving and we want to throw thousands of pounds worth of pies onto the pitch in protest.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
